pumpio (pumpio) group

Here's a list of groups I'm subscribed to on the #skilledtests server that may need to be picked up by another instance: !fedgroups !snadmins !tzaf !lost !ostatus !friendica !not !peace !grrr !wiki !diaspora !chess !pumpio !redmatrix !twitter !wikipedia !noodles Copying this to the new !Fediverse group...

hab mir #wearetwitter durchgelesen. echt jetzt? weshalb investiert Ihr nicht in !gnusocial & !pumpio. #floss

!pumpio 1.0.0 is now available. https://strugee.net/blog/2016/08/pump.io-1.0.0-is-now-available /cc !gnusocial

@Maiyannah@community.highlandarrow.com Also, check in with @Steve@chirp.cooleysekula.net who's written #NavierStokes, a gateway between !GNUsocial, !Pumpio and !Twitter (and maybe others). Can't find documentation on #NavierStokes at the moment, my screen keeps filling up with physics equations.
-
So I'm again without any Diaspora account. All I see on pod.babillage.org is 502 Bad Gateway. I think I don't actually need it but it was a really nice place. I think I'll stay just here in !gnusocial and in !pumpio for now.

@deavmi the !pumpio protocol may be cool, but their web ui lacks many trivial features, like replying to a reply, @-mentioning, etc
-
@c107 you can't link !Gnusocial to !pumpio
-
@majestyx identi\.ca/public would require a "public" user to exist. There isn't a public timeline at !pumpio (but a thing called firehose)
-
@majestyx Not sure about the W3C group but there's some effort of adding !pumpio support to !GNUsocial from the !GS side http://qttr.at/i02
-
@ycs il y a d'activite en anglais et en espagnol sur !pumpio, mais malheureusement pas en francais.
-
why don't you install !pumpio also and see for yourself? best is always that. you could also click through the !pumpio group for older info. cc !gs !gnusocial

"Why should federation grow at all?": I believe that federation only grows by those who will run the instances themselves. Let's forget !gs for a minute. And look at !pumpio: from UI level we know how bad it is, for a user who doesn't want to admin it. But if the "right" techies use it, it will grow.

there is NO movement/commit in !pumpio since "authored on 22 Jun 2014" https://github.com/e14n/pump.io/commits/master

@maliktunga I completely disagree about the Qvitter UI — I find it completely unusable, even on a browser (Midori) with Javascript completely enabled that I can use perfectly well on other #Javascrippled sites. As a !FreeSoftware project, I appreciate that !GNUsocial continues to respect my freedom by giving me choice. Merging the Qvitter UI would be a step backwards. Software Freedom may also explain the use of Gitorious over Github — Gitorious itself is Free Software, but Github is not. I think GNUsocial's biggest weakness is the OStatus protocol, which I've been led to believe is a kludgy patchwork of other protocols, verbose, and not inherently secure. I hope GNUsocial will continue to be developed, so that when the W3C finally establishes an open Federation Protocol [1] we'll be able to connect directly and seamlessly with all those other projects like !Pumpio and Diaspora. Welcome to the !Fediverse, @maliktunga! I hope you'll set up your own GNUsocial instance (or other Federated social software). Come join us in IRC at irc://irc.freenode.net/#social or http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=social
