why don't you create a !srilanka group ? you're posting enough tags already ;-)
-
@erkan good idea :-) Will create a group soon, even though I am likely to be the only member there!
-
@erkan but I hope that will change soon, and more people will join. when #identica went down the drain with…
-
You (and we) need to help to bring back their #trust. The !fediverse is now more #resistent against 1 server owners decision
-
otoh, it was also possible back then to set up your own server (or use the few ones which were already running before the #identicalypse), we need to try to educate people better, that they REALLY understand the aspects of federation
-
@erkan but I don't think !GNUSocial is ready to welcome such users again. It has gone in all sorts of contradictory directions ever since. Most of the attractive features it had such as hierarchical conversations, simple, user friendly interface is no longer there. This is not an alternative to Twitter anymore, unless you are convinced and concerned about free software
-
about he interface: we've still a few old !SN instances running with the "hierachical view", so I am sure we could host them there
-
:-( !lost
-
"I don't follow the past but what did the developers wrong ?": the owner of #identica decided to switch backend software from !statusnet to !pumpio, users didn't like this new software, so they left :-(
-
@nawi I am specifically talking about the Sri Lankan community we had on #identica (when it was running on StatusNet ) There is nothing we can offer to convince them to be back. We have to win new users. GNUSocial has so many thing that Twitter cannot offer. But it cannot convince these particular users.
-
see e.g. here (1). cc !pumpio (1) http://www.skilledtests.com/wiki/Pump.io#info_to_identi.ca_users
-
we've !lost many (they are now at !twitter ) :-( it's always like that: who #owns the property, decides. People need to realize: set up your own !gs, the sooner, the better
-
there is NO movement/commit in !pumpio since "authored on 22 Jun 2014" https://github.com/e14n/pump.io/commits/master
-
#pumpio does not have hierarchical view as far as I know. This is what I meant by hierarchical conversation threads : http://skilledtests.com/wiki/File:Hierarchical_threads.png

Well, Evan gave enough time with his announcement(s). It's also the fault of the people to !not understand what federation is about. They just like to #beehive (so, then you can f.ck them in the ass, of course)
-
to ALL: if someone wants #hierarchical threading (1), please say so, we've a few !sn instances running with it still in the !fediverse. You are WELCOME there. (1) http://www.skilledtests.com/wiki/File:Hierarchical_threads.png https://fediverse.com/attachment/8153
-
well, you actually did run your own instances. but !sn has failed you, bad !statusnet
-
That's why you have my RESPECT, you tried. Others just talk.
-
@erkan I wait.
-
@lohang it's your decision. I am here to help you, either way :-)
