@xrevan86 I suspect that non-local groups aren't shown via API simply because you cannot do anything with via API with non-local groups: join, leave, list members... In a case of GNU Social seeing local groups only is mostly useless: main power comes with using the same group across different instances. E.g. naturally I would like to join !gnusocial But as I cannot even find this group via API from loadaverage.org, it looks like implementation of "list local groups" won't worth its efforts :-(
Some crazy !gnusocial syntax no one every uses. "@#family hello" will send a notice to all your subscribers you've marked with the tag 'family'. http://somsants.net/doc/tags
Seems #mastodon is trending (I'm a bit slow off the mark). Reading on the Internets I'm surprised how some/most articles, supposedly written by people with technical knowledge, make absolutely no mention of !gnusocial. Oh well, being in the lime light was never the reason anyway. Long live the !fediverse!!
Tonight I will be DDG'ing for the correct way to fix email notifications on my !GNUsocial instance. Outbound emails from it are being bounced before they actually leave.
Head a nice discussion about !GNUSocial with @mattl on Twitter. Maybe this is also interesting for others: https://twitter.com/mattl/status/833248449852297218 (conversation view is really shitty on Twitter, in order to also see the "sub-threads" you have to click on the individual messages). I would also be happy to discuss my thoughts with the GNU Social community, because I really care. But I don't know what's the best place for it... The mailing list looks rather dead https://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/social-discuss
!gnusocial one mark of a great public internetworking system is that it doesn't pester users for donations. we should keep in mind how fatal this can be if, as end-users, we do not give what we can.
Anyway, guys from !gnusocial !fediverse, if someone skillful and known (more or less) can pick up #loadaverage, I'll be glad to transfer everything to him and support for first time :)
Hey !snadmins !gnusocial anyone remember this, or is it just me & I'm smokin' crack: (what seems like eons ago) somebody threw together a script that would take your GS database and prune it when it hit a determined size in MB or GB? I think it also created a static html version/archive prior to doing so? (@jezra came to mind for some reason, in relation to it) #RandomGnuSocialThoughts
@question @alive @mcscx hi !gnusocial Somebody know a good #Linux application to use my !gnusocial account in it? if it is also compatible with !pump.io and other microblogging platform it was a plus! thanks!
After due consideration, I have decided to shut down the instance of !gnusocial at https://cybernude.org/ . It's broken and it appears unlikely to be fixable. I'm not happy about this--it's my only means of contact with most of you. But this is broken. And when stuff fails to function properly, I wonder what it's doing other than what it should. Which is to say, it becomes a !security risk.
