Please also consider for a moment that if you have to make every issue a gender issue, you might be the one who is sexist, because you are unable to view it in any lense but a sexist one. -
Annah (maiyannah@community.highlandarrow.com)'s status on Monday, 28-May-2018 02:30:09 UTC Annah That's the fundamental Mastodon problem: the software is bad and only getting worse, breaking the rest of the Fediverse in new and interesting ways. I use the "Embrace, Extend, Extinguish" thing Microsoft uses because while I feel it may not have been Mastodon's original purpose it's certainly what their actions communicate now: their response to pretty much any external software having problems with them is that you should clearly join the Mastodon mothership.
(Pleroma isn't much better with that behaviour, but they aren't in as strong a position to be pushy with it, and I think everyone except That One Dev understand that. They're a minority even compared to GNU social right now, though the community is growing.) -

Salon's is opt-out and you have to view ads if you do (or you just run noscript or block both the ads and miner). Sealion's is opt in and you arent locked out of anything. -

Annah (maiyannah@community.highlandarrow.com)'s status on Monday, 08-Jan-2018 13:19:47 UTC Annah Over prescription of psych meds is a problem - but the leading cause is something no "progressive" publication is going to call out: patients who thinking they know better than their psychiatrists what treatment they require. In fact, the aeticle reads like a cautionary tale of just how mistaken those individuals are. -

Annah (maiyannah@community.highlandarrow.com)'s status on Tuesday, 02-Jan-2018 04:34:59 UTC Annah Essentially, the reason HLA is still here bobbing along just fine and Plateia looks like a fucking graveyard, is HLA is mostly networked with the GNU social side of things and some matsoc instances that mostly use glitchsoc or older mastodon versions, while plateia was mostly networked with mastodon instances that keep fairly up to date, and Mastodon beyond a certain version breaks federation in a LOT of different ways, to the point where Plateia can't really reliably talk with most of them. Just look at its network timeline :/ -

Annah (maiyannah@community.highlandarrow.com)'s status on Monday, 25-Dec-2017 15:00:43 UTC Annah I really rather resent people who sit there saying "we shouldn't have special gathering days where you remind people you love them, that should be every day!" because they never, ever, are the people who actually act on that.
Don't be a Debbie Downer. Let people have their reprieves and their special moments. The jealousy doesn't suit anyone. -
