Moving (some day) To Federati...can no longer change usernames (daw@micro.fragdev.com)'s status on Tuesday, 16-Feb-2016 01:05:58 UTC Moving (some day) To Federati...can no longer change usernames the netizenfed.org domain is past due. Is it worth keeping it around? There are probably a lot of posts that still use it, although probably the information they contain is old. We made the name change a while back, but it hasn't been THAT long. I still catch myself saying !nef sometimes. -
Moving (some day) To Federati...can no longer change usernames (daw@micro.fragdev.com)'s status on Friday, 31-Jul-2015 18:04:07 UTC Moving (some day) To Federati...can no longer change usernames I thought this was going to the !fcm group, though even then it might have been confusing. The old !nef logo has a cow. A cow would be good for consistency, but I never really thought seriously about attributing the original author. I think I noted it on his Flickr page and I never heard anything back that we could use it, but really something original would be best. Ultimately, we need twitter/etc. cover art and an avatar, but for now, I'm really just looking for something for the GNU Social group. I'm happy to answer any more questions.
As for the Lawcast, it's probably just best to stick with the Music Manumit branding. Tom handles all of that sort of thing. -

We do have the option for a third alias. There's already a !freeculture group, so maybe we don't need a third. -
Moving (some day) To Federati...can no longer change usernames (daw@micro.fragdev.com)'s status on Friday, 24-Jul-2015 19:26:33 UTC Moving (some day) To Federati...can no longer change usernames well, at the very least, private groups give a feature that you can't really get with tags. That said, I've only over used private groups as a test to see that they actually work.
I think groups are also useful for organizations, but my life wouldn't significantly change if !NEF or !OSP went to following those as tags. Having the group means there aren't duplicates, at least on a single instance. Over on twitter, RynoTheBearded ends up in the Occupy Oakland stream all the time because he has a show called "OO". He's based in Tupelo, MS, and I wish he'd get the idea that freedom is more than just !CCMusic. -

I don't think we came to any sort of conclusion. Realistically, I'm not going to be able to do anything with it until summer of 2017 at the earliest. Should we just let it go the next time it is up for renewal? -

The reasons behind this are varied, but basically it looks like Music Manumit is going to end up with a benefit corp/LLC or L3C status. I'm not sure the time frame on that. Tom refuses to give dates on anything.
There is at least one other option to hold things together. NEF could become a creator coop. Where we would base the coop, I don't know. The only state I have even the slightest bit of knowledge of coop law about is Michigan, and it's not a great fit.
It's bedtime here, so I'll respond in morning. -

There was literally no way to fix it from within Linux. I had to change the security groups. I guess to that end there's no huge reason to turn off the things I mentioned via email, although they are now open. I'm not sure if this should be tagged as !osp or !nef since I have no real plan, but I might as well get both groups talking about what we might do... -

Moving (some day) To Federati...can no longer change usernames (daw@micro.fragdev.com)'s status on Saturday, 04-Apr-2015 01:43:04 UTC Moving (some day) To Federati...can no longer change usernames @mv if !nef does end up sticking with 501(c)(3) this might also be something we could write in to the by laws, but while I think a business association 501(c)(6) might actually be what we want, I think the name might turn some people off. Thus, I propose we we write into the by-laws about suggesting workers join the IWW or something. What this would mean is that corporations (FMA, Jamendo, etc.) and humans could both join us. @lrockhq's suggestion of being a federation of sole proprietors doesn't make a lot of sense because it's arguable that his show and Ryno's show are the only sole proprietors of the current membrs. -

Are there people that might be interested in doing a one-off audiocast but for whatever reason they don't feel like it fits the !hpr crowd (hpr is pretty broad, so not sure what this might be, but still worth asking)? This new thing may be for you. It's not a case of we build it and you come. You have to come first. Let us know if you want us to build it, because right now we are juggling lots of projects. -

The raw files can get pretty huge. Audacity can be crashy, so make sure you leave enough time to do the editing.
When are you going to start recording your baseball show via mumble? Of course, you don't have to record over the Internet. -

Moving (some day) To Federati...can no longer change usernames (daw@micro.fragdev.com)'s status on Sunday, 15-Mar-2015 00:45:47 UTC Moving (some day) To Federati...can no longer change usernames I realize that this is of course my decision in the end, but with a job seeming imminent, I need to figure out if it is enough to go back to Music Manumit (and sportazine, Ryno's stuff). I had still be doing #MMP scheduling during my three-week hiatus.
As an aside, I've long not been great at long-term multitasking. Summer school was always best. I'm great on standardized tests in part because of this. I just focus and clear everything away. Part of the reason it worked this time though is because I knew I was hurting Music Manumit by not taking notes. I wanted to get it done so I could go back.
This is obviously going to take multiple posts. I'll post a link to the thread in my next post, which will be syndicated. Everything else will go in this thread.
