@mv if !nef does end up sticking with 501(c)(3) this might also be something we could write in to the by laws, but while I think a business association 501(c)(6) might actually be what we want, I think the name might turn some people off. Thus, I propose we we write into the by-laws about suggesting workers join the IWW or something. What this would mean is that corporations (FMA, Jamendo, etc.) and humans could both join us. @lrockhq's suggestion of being a federation of sole proprietors doesn't make a lot of sense because it's arguable that his show and Ryno's show are the only sole proprietors of the current membrs.

if Universal, Sony, etc. want to get in the !freeculture game, I'd certainly welcome them. Major software companies are already doing free software. Of course, I guess most are all clustered around the Linux Foundation.
Here's a starting point for reading about "Business Leagues" though most everything modern calls them business associations as far as I'm aware: http://www.irs.gov/Charities-&-Non-Profits/Other-Non-Profits/Business-Leagues
There are some things we could do such as being a B-corp, but I think that's more useful for an individual group/person than for NEF.
