    No, the exploit doesn’t rely on systemd being run or even installed. If you have the poisoned version, update right away please. The infected version is infected even without systemd (just as long as it’s run as other than arg0, which is the case with many init systems.). Now, it is because of systemd that Debian and Red Hat shipped a version of sshd that was dynamically linked to liblzma. So that’s the connection to systemd. But it’s “SSH linked to liblzma” that’s exploited, not “SSH inited by systemd”.

    One of the weirdest things for us humans to explain to space aliens is our affiliation for electromagnetic radiation between 420 to 750 terahertz. The ETs are like "why the heck do you have these 'lamps' and 'LED screens' and 'plants'?" We're like "haven't you heard of light?" and they're like "he ain't heavy, he's my brother" and we're like "we're not talking about your hot symbiotic co-pilot growing out of your forehead, which, cool look btw" and they're like "'hot', 'cool', 'look'? More radiation talk".

    "Terrans have hundreds of words for radiation", they'll say.
