   @Sandra thanks for this <3 i don't know your religious leanings but it's so nice to find someone so enthusiastic about the bible from a literary perspective (we seem sparse at least where i am). anthology seems apt, and it's half there in the name i guess.

   to clarify, the "cancel paul" thing is only half serious, half a semi in joke with my dad. i definitely need to study more sources to get a better sense of what's what.

     @milofultz @Sandra i think it is a combination of the materials and the small number ? it is a niche product which would serve to drive the price up.

     if you're interested in something similar for a fair bit cheaper, biblica has "the books of the bible". and it uses the niv, which i generally prefer to the asv. it's just paperback though

     @noa @Sandra it was pretty reductive, true. Is the main reason for the price tag just the materials it's printed on? Just seems like a huge price tag for an update to an existing translation of a VERY old book, esp. considering there is no other way to check it out. Not here to shit on it, for sure, it is definitely the most I've been interested in a bible for a LONG time haha

     @noa @Sandra like $170 for paperback copies also seems WILDLY expensive. I get it for the sexy hardcover. Maybe I'm just not the target audience, but if the target audience is separated by a paywall... I dunno ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

     @noa Bibliotheca's font is awesome and these are my most readable books but I wish that the ALV could also exist in digital so I could grep and sort it.

     @Sandra @noa I just want to see and try reading it but the price tag is enormous for a bible with stuff taken out. I feel like an ebook would serve everyone well

     @milofultz @Sandra i think "bible with stuff taken out" is quite a reductive way of considering it? i agree it costs a lot overall, but it's a different kind of bible.

     (i especially endorse the lack of red lettering, i cannot read from red letter bibles)

     big jealous of the alv! i can't justify the cost at the moment but i can dream haha. it's kind of similar to my goals in a few ways, but because i'm doing this for fun i'm not adapting, im being more inspired by i guess?. i'm not a fan of its font though.

     and i love your sketch! fifteen years is scary long ago for me :0

     @milofultz Did the ALV/Bibliotheca remove anything from the originals? From what I can gather just reading Wikipedia it sounds like it gets rid of gratuitous archaicisms, brings translation closer to the originals and even adds apocrypha?
     
     Sounds a bit like the Swedish Bibel 2000. If I remember correctly they even went so far as to correct the Gospels from the original Hebrew when the Greek was quoting scripture.

     @noa One of my backburnered projects is to make a digital book that had the ordering and setup of the Message Remix Pause but with the Bibel 2000 Swedish translation, but with Tabb's and Peterson's commentary in English. Although Bibel 2000 sucks unfortunately.

     @Sandra you might know, are there any documents where langton or whoever justify their chapter positions?

     @noa Stephanus reintroduced the talmudic verse positions (but restarting the increments according to Langton's positions) — and in the NT "whenever his horse took a step" as the story goes. I like Langton's work just fine, I don't want the numbers to be globally removed and forgotten. I just appreciate the existence of reader's versions without them. My MSG doesn't have them either.
