@deutrino I don't have an academic answer to this but pragmatically it seems to boil down to "No", although my perception is warped by the historical fact that capitalist countries have stymied any remote attempt using economic sanctions, military threats and covert ops actions including assassinations and plotting coups so we probably will never know.
At a smaller scale, communes seem to be held together around central figures who started it, and crumble when they move on/pass away. Tribal people living outside the capitalist world also have central authority figures, so I don't think that you can completely remove the central planning.
Profit motive or not, hierarchy still is the most effective way of governing any kind of society, from tribes to video game guilds and countries.
@deutrino Absolutely every single field. Finance, power and water, farming, education, manufacture, retirement homes, religion, entertainment, software, Internet, etc…
@drq I beg to slightly differ, people pay online stuff with money, see Patreon and Twitch subscriptions. However they are discriminate in what they’re paying for. The reality is that we’re churning out more content than what people are ready to pay for. On the other side, marketing departments are showered with money because it’s hard to link campaigns with actual results, so there’s an arms race between companies. So there’s a natural fit between content creators starving for money and moneyed marketing dept. starving for content.
♲ @mbeisen@twitter.com: because of vaccine mandates we’re losing teachers who don’t believe in science, healthcare workers who don’t believe in medicine, and police who don’t believe in public safety…

I feel like you're missing the source of the current wealth of the richest. At least some of it has to do with consumer goods. So any population reduction would hit the bottom line of most companies. In a weird way, corporations would actually be harmed from a population reduction, and then would have a financial interest to keep/make it growing.
The other thing is that it would be easier for people to rebel against robotic law enforcement than real people, even under heavy riot armor. So I don't think the economic inequality can grow that much without any human labor required one way or another.
And maybe it's misplaced hope on my part, but not even the current wealthiest people keep it all for themselves without investing part or most of it in charities or investments. and none of them managed to outlast the current human age limit, which makes me think there aren't that many expensive thing you can spend money on that would justify a truly egregious economic inequality.
Vegetable soup contains pasta ⁉️ In France, vegetable soup contains only, well, vegetables.
There's only one spoon size, and teaspoon and tablespoon just are units of measurement ⁉️⁉️ In France, there are small spoons for breakfast, coffee and desserts, and large spoons for soup.

After a little bit of digging, Incognito Mode is interfering with the HTML 5 extension Encrypted Media Extension. Welp, I guess I'm leaving Netflix sooner than expected.
@Cocoron I think the rise of mental illness is due to better acknowledgment rather than actual spreading, the same way that currently more people are declaring to be gay, however there's no reason to believe the proportion of gay people among the general population changed over any period of time.
However this doesn't mean there isn't a pressure to sell what you described as commodities, but it isn't new either, see "modern" advertisement dating back to the 50's.
