Sean Tilley (sean@social.deadsuperhero.com)'s status on Tuesday, 14-Jun-2022 11:22:07 UTC Sean Tilley @Coffee Yes, this encapsulates a lot of what I'm feeling, and why many of my views are probably closer to natural Paganism - the idea of essence vs some kind of concrete, eternal ruling figure.
It has always bothered me that there is such an emphasis on "the afterlife", as opposed to the current life. Often, it feels as though the overt emphasis some religions have on the idea of Heaven causes people to care far less about what happens to the natural world.
Anyway, thanks for the link! š -
Sean Tilley (sean@social.deadsuperhero.com)'s status on Wednesday, 01-Jun-2022 22:21:06 UTC Sean Tilley @fu @Beef Incidentally, the particular brand of Evangelical church that I grew up with was the inverse - the mask of "feel-good Christianity", with something vile and deeply repressive underneath. It's like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, where everyone seems to be friendly and inviting, but they just want to make you exactly like them.
I do not think all of Christianity or all Christians are like this, but this brand is unfortunately quite prevalent in the United States. I am glad that you found something that works for you, and makes you happy. -
Sean Tilley (sean@social.deadsuperhero.com)'s status on Wednesday, 01-Jun-2022 10:18:10 UTC Sean Tilley @carcinopithecus Yeah, 100% same. My girlfriend, who is trans, has expressed some interest in finding a liberal-leaning church to go to, for community, spiritual connection, and a sense of belonging. Doesn't even have to necessarily be a Christian denomination.
I'm supportive of the idea on paper, but want nothing to do with the kind of people that require rigid conformity and use shame as a weapon. Being that we're both pretty queer, neither of us want to be anywhere near that shit.
I don't know, I guess she and I both are dealing with existential crisises from different angles, and feel restless and frustrated. -

It's a wonderful show, and I've really enjoyed the character development and narrative arcs. Kinda sad that I'm on the final two seasons. -

Was this explicitly stated somewhere, or is this something that just fails and there's no response from the dev team? -

I ask because I've always wanted to start my own thing, but my focus is all over the place. -

Sean Tilley (sean@social.deadsuperhero.com)'s status on Monday, 14-Mar-2022 06:39:02 UTC Sean Tilley @KayFaraday @Moon Yes, with some caveats. Posting currently requires objects to be wrapped in a Create activity, and you'd better remember to include a "published" field to represent a date!
Current stable fails to create a status, and upstream develop allows creation, but timestamp is basically NaN due to being invalid.
Anyway, I'm currently experimenting to see what building a frontend with just C2S even potentially looks like. -
Sean Tilley (sean@social.deadsuperhero.com)'s status on Monday, 14-Mar-2022 06:38:30 UTC Sean Tilley That being said, it is kinda useful for data conversion. Like, if I wanted to pull in old posts from somewhere else and stitch it together on some kind of ActivityPub blog, the dates could match the original creation dates.
In fact, Iāve been doing this with videos hosted on VidCommons. I threw an old John Wayne movie on there thatās like 100 years old, and the timestamp reflects the actual day the movie came out. Other ActivityPub servers reflect this.

Sean Tilley (sean@social.deadsuperhero.com)'s status on Monday, 14-Mar-2022 06:37:48 UTC Sean Tilley ActivityPub Client-to-Server API lets you specify any arbitrary date as as the āpublishedā value, which the backend then interprets as the ācreated_atā value for a status.
This is not necessarily wrong, but you can do some pretty goofy stuff.

Sean Tilley (sean@social.deadsuperhero.com)'s status on Monday, 07-Mar-2022 05:29:31 UTC Sean Tilley Thanks for sharing this, thatās cool that you spent some time working on this!
Yeah, Iād imagine that working on a project with a moving API target would definitely be a pain in the butt. Itās kind of hard to build towards something when the vision keeps changing.
Also, I still donāt really know how to deal with state management myself; I was trying to do it for a Vue project and realized that I really need to brush up on JavaScript before moving forward with it at all.

Sean Tilley (sean@social.deadsuperhero.com)'s status on Monday, 07-Mar-2022 05:29:05 UTC Sean Tilley Yeah, that was kind of my thought, too. Youād think that itād be a natural fit.
Then again, maybe itās just a case where the overlap of āpeople who are Elixir programmersā and āpeople who are interested in Matrixā did not contain that many people.
