MMN-o ✅⃠Blir så jävla lack på skitkommersialismen. Fuck #AvionShopping.
@einebiene Awesome-bee! I had two smoothies in total, no more fruitish stuff. But I was out at least for a while with @makitadoge, not for long though but including other walks outside today it's probably been at least 20 minutes. I have been mapping some stuff and reading about #osm tags as a personal project. And I think I'll cheat and count my cycling to work as the physical work today, just because there's been a huge snow storm the whole day.
I played with the (Android) app a little now. Basically: it works. A bit quirky at times though, and I hate that I see no way to choose a mapping background like you can on the web page (Google data is seriously outdated for addresses in NL: I can get the map point, but trying to get directions fails because G doesn't know the actual street address; at least you get something approximate, but that's not good enough for actual directions). So, for now, for NL, using the website on your phone (and switching to OSM) is better and more reliable than using the app. That said, the app seems to be under active development, so it will likely get better. (In the mean time, G seriously needs to update their database - both satellite imagery (sometimes > 10 years old!) and street addresses (and how they are mapped to the map data). #what3words #app #osm #googlemaps
I'm setting up my own server for rendering #OSM data. There aren't a lot of times I want fast disks and processing power, but this is one. Parsing that data is a big-ass task.
I should setup a parser to extract more localized data than the entire geography of Sweden (at least it's not the planet file), as I'll probably only focus on Västerbotten or #Umeå for now. !mappers
@litox Try logging in to #OSMhttps://www.openstreetmap.org/login by clicking the OpenID symbol under the list of third party authentication providers and giving your ID in the text box.

MMN-o ✅⃠Hey #Esperanto people. I thought the point of your language was to be easy to learn and avoid exceptions etc. Why am I seeing #OSM edits that add an "alternative name" in Esperanto? :) Take Norway for example, name:eo is "Norvegio" while alt_name:eo is "Norvegujo", and Sweden is Svedio / Svedujo. Obviously there's an internal discussion here whether to use "io" or "ujo" in the end!
Ways are constructed with multiple nodes. If the way closes, it implies it being an area. Not sure what you meant with "plop a marker there" (you can easily get the boundary box of the way/area with most #OSM related tools). Maybe this belongs in !mappers too
Sorry I haven't been active in the !hackfest, I've been doing some !mappers stuff instead and learning #Leaflet + interacting with #OSM data structures. But I'll make sure to merge your stuff! I assume it's all good.
