just give me a fucking keyboard, you cowards!!!

meanwhile: i know what if we put a hinge down the middle of the combo display and only allowed input device?

at some level, the only way to protect these things is not to store them in the first place. "store nothing" is of course unrealistic for many practitioners (though it certainly guides my sense of whether i actually want to work on software)...

brennen (brennen@federation.p1k3.com)'s status on Wednesday, 06-Jul-2022 23:22:09 UTC brennen (i don't think federation at the forge / review tool level is exactly what i *want*, but it seems like it could be a reasonable way to spackle over parts of what feel to me like the core problem:
we have an effective monopolist in the code forge space because acceding to total centralization was the easiest way for users to get a bunch of stuff that the allegedly-distributed VCS's data model & interface can't accommodate, even though it's super useful stuff.)

brennen (brennen@federation.p1k3.com)'s status on Wednesday, 06-Jul-2022 23:21:44 UTC brennen @technomancy i'm curious about the vibe of an actual shared gitea instance. a solo one has been nice enough, but aside from linking people to my published code there's not *that* much utility in a code forge no one else is using...

brennen (brennen@federation.p1k3.com)'s status on Saturday, 04-Jun-2022 04:00:30 UTC brennen @mhoye @zwol it feels like the "build the web in" part sort of happened ages back with other goals and the web is just so poisoned that of course advertising was going to leak into it sooner or later? that may not really be a good model, it might just be way more that adtech is inescapable in any commercial product one way or another at this point, but still.

brennen (brennen@federation.p1k3.com)'s status on Friday, 25-Feb-2022 20:15:53 UTC brennen @garbados yeah, i remember the allure of why's poignant guide and whatnot, and i remember feeling at one time that ruby would be a natural place for me to drift from perl, but i don't think time has been kind to a lot of the specific ways ruby culture thought it was humanizing programming.

(also i guess: ruby seems unusually rich in temptations to cleverness.)

google didn't originate it, but is to blame for a lot of its current popularity.

i know git-ssb is a thing - git over scuttlebutt. i'm not sure how practical it is.
