@clacke It is a remarkably good show, I was watching Channel101 as it came out and it was the best thing on there. And post-finding-out-about-Cosby, anything that annoyed him is good.

Documentary: the Documentary was pretty good, too, if you like documentaries but think there's a pretentiousness to their style.

@clacke OH. I couldn't remember why that sounded familiar. Uh, things turn late-Ridley Scott Prometheus-level bad later on. He's still an excellent set decorator, but can't plot his way out of a paper bag. End of S1 was so bad I wiped my memory.

@ajroach42 One of the best things Gerry Anderson did was make Thunderbirds a rescue organization, not cops. And UFO fights organ-stealing aliens. Nobody wages war against other Humans.

@clacke I love the first half or so of John Carter movie. The Zodangans in the book are a little harder than the Helians, but still peaceful & generous mostly. They aren't crazy planet-wrecking steampunk spider-city freaks like the movie; no Red Martian would behave like that.

If they'd made the film focus on Carter's survival story, and not mix in that fantasy junk and bits from 2 other books, and made sure to say "A PRINCESS OF MARS" as the title, it would've done better.

@tsturm There's a ton of other uses, the porn & gambling funded amazing nightclubs, builds of complex games and "models" of places and things, all sorts of weird art displays & sculpture.

It's not great for corporate meetings, because corp meetings suck; they're no good IRL either.

And Minecraft's cute but it's really shitty for building anything adult, has no multimedia input.

Mozilla Hubs & Spoke are OK, not as good, don't scale to 100s-1000s of users, but at least they're free-ish.

@tsturm Well, no. SL was awesome until Linden started cracking down on porn and gambling in adult-rated areas, which drove out 80% of the playerbase. Fucking puritanical bankers are the problem.

A Metaverse could still be awesome again, but not one owned by Facebook.

@clacke Also, after you watch Buckaroo Banzai (and stay for the credits), watch The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, which is at least 25% in-joke references to Buckaroo, and the ending esp.

@clacke I was pretty unhappy with the Preacher Anna All the Time season, esp. since she's a minor character in the book, but the others have been excellent. Maybe a little too long moping in the alien caves.
