Alright, continuing my #DIYTV discussion from yesterday.
Some shows I'd like to see:
1 - some kind of midnight monster movie show, a la elvira or svengalli or MST3K using PD TV and film (I'm specifically considering doing a CAPTAIN VIDEO reboot that does this, the way Captain Video incorporated scenes from westerns in to an otherwise entirely scifi world.)

2 - Music show, largely featuring CC-BY, CC-BY-SA, and Public Domain music, along with occasional live performances, interviews, and commentary.
3 - Shouting in to the void - Space linemen in sublight ships traveling at relativistic speeds laying phone lines for an ansible network that the rest of humanity has long since forgotten, with only one another for company, and a 15+ minute round trip for signals.

4 - The Space explorer's field guide wiki - The year is 2030. 5 years ago, someone uploaded plans for a DIY interstellar engine to hacker news, and ... It worked. It could be asembled for peanuts.
Now interstellar travel is the domain of DIY tech enthusiasts and the open source community.
Mostly.
It's a vast, nearly infinite cosmos. All of it is basically uncharted. A weird combination of hardcore nerds and long haul hikers are out there, contributing back to the wiki.

I'm collecting together a list of the resources at our disposal.
I have plenty of editors (video and audio) and a fair number of writers.
I don't have a ton of local camera people, but I can train camera people and I can forgive bad camera work. We're mostly going to be dealing with static shots anyway, and half of the show's we're talking about are talk show or vlog style, which doesn't require any fancy camera work.
What I need now are, mostly, folks to be on camera.

I guess the best way to convince folks to join us on camera is to produce some stuff that folks want to be a part of.
So uhh, I guess I'll keep plugging on that.

16 - The Martian New Era.
Follows correspondents for a space newspaper as they do investigative journalism.
(the correspondent format enables us to have multiple crews working in isolation but contributing to the same cannon)

17 - Space Diner
Interviews with the crew and patrons of an infrequently frequented diner on the edge of an old space way, observational documentary style.
(probably an occasional sketch on Mountain Town TV presents, rather than a standalone thing.)

Infrequent show in a weekend update/Daily Show style, but about smaller local communities.

13 - The Life Cosmic with Jules Calamity
Documentary filmmaker in space, running out of funds, trying to find a new way to make money.

14 - Do 11 and 12 at the same time.
Super Heroes and Super Villains cutting promos on one another as if they were pro wrestlers. All very kayfabe and camp, but with occasional consequences.

15 - Local news broadcast, but from outer space.
Probably also part of the SEFGW universe. Single person trying to operate all the broadcast equipment, presenting news on the galactic scale, but also news builitians from correspondents on various planets.
Gives a great way to tie in to multiple on going stories, and lets us do a weekly broadcast where contributors are only contributing monthly or even less often.

9 - Space Patrol
Not re-runs of classic space patrol.
Just a new, sincere, Space Patrol style show. We'd give it a new name. We'd minimize or remove the law enforcement aspect because acab, but the same basic idea of a small group of folks trying to help people in space, done with tiny sets and barely any budget and all live with barely any special effects except what we could do in camera.
Maybe set this in the Space Explorers Field Guide Wiki universe.

this is silly, but it's an idea I've had kicking around for ages.
A sports recap talk show, but instead of doing recap of current sports, we pick a historic season from some sport and listen to their radio broadcasts, and then do commentary and analysis on that in real time.
A lot of 30s baseball radio broadcasts still exist, and newspaper records exist for the games that don't.

12 - The Blue Beetle
The Blue Beetle is a super hero from a comic book who is now in the public domain.
I wrote a season of scripts that feature a college campus security guard finding a hoodie that makes him able to punch really hard and withstand/absorb certain kinds of kinetic damage.
He becomes The Blue Beetle and starts trying to fight crime on campus, except that most of the crime he finds can't be fought by punching.
But When It Can! He does.

7 - Paramount (Paranormal) Pest control
- They aren't ghost busters! They do preventative maintenance and treat infestations. ( I have a couple of sketches in this vein written but nothing ready to release.)

8 - Mountain Town TV Presents
This would be kind of like The Jackie Gleason show or Cimax! or any of the other 50s sketch/teleplay shows.
Each week, we'd showcase one - four sketches or teleplays, using this as a place to pilot new ideas, debut new shows, and just showcase new contributors. A nice low stakes way to get consistent content in front of an audience.

(To go along with 8, when we don't have anything *new* to showcase, we could do single acts from plays, as if each act was a single episode of TV show. Stuff like The Importance of Being Earnest.)

5 - Do a thing with technology.
Just a project show. Every episode is a build or a demo or whatever. Some stuff is comptuer based, some stuff is robotics, some stuff is repair or modifications.

6 - Something like The Tex Avery Show or The Chuck Jones Show but instead of doing themed anthologies of short cartoons, we do themed anthologies of silent shorts.
There are some truly brilliant silent shorts, and many of them are at too awkward a length for stand alone broadcast, not to mention they require at least a little historical context (and a new score.)
So we do that. Historical context, live score. 2 - 3 shorts on a theme every week.
