I'm hearing noise around Threads and how it's on their roadmap to implement ActivityPub support, plus suggestions that Threads on the Fediverse is likely to break smaller instances because of the increased level of traffic from a single ActivityPub-enabled instance with 100m+ registered users on it.

I've heard that some instance admins are already considering defederating Threads, although I don't know whether this is because of the potential traffic, or because Meta.

Interesting times.

That's a fair point. I hadn't considered filtering of specific frequency ranges.

Noise cancelling removes noise from outside by taking an audio feed from the outside, and inverting it into the headphones.

Listen through does exactly the same but doesnt invert it, so you actually hear what's outside.

Genuinely, I cannot grok how both can be active at the same time.

ANC _and_ passthru at the same time? Aren't they mutually exclusive functions? My Soundcore Q30s can do one or the other, and really well.

@skaly Aside from the view of local accounts on the UK instance, is there any benefit to using it? You can subscribe to anyone on any instance from any instance (with certain exceptions) 🙂

When scrolling through a thread, here on the #Fediverse, I need to condition myself _not_ to skip every 3rd reply assuming it's an advert.

This is what the #ClosedWeb has done to me.

We're currently working our way through the US version of the sitcom #Ghosts. We're big fans of the UK version, and started watching the west Atlantic version with a tiny amount of trepidation.

Although the comedy is slightly different and at a much faster pace, it's still incredibly funny. Worth a watch!
