@clacke That's insane. Chani didn't take any crap from anyone. I thought the character was superb.

@clacke I didn't feel that the film was unclear on this. She clearly knew her own mind and we saw several examples of this throughout.

Paul did spring the marriage to Ireland and, with the way Chani's character had been portrayed, it was completely within character for her to leave in the way that she did.

She didn't agree with the direction Paul was taking. She knew she couldn't change it. Leaving was the only option left open to her.

@clacke Probably. I often suspect a wilful failure to comprehend in cases like this.

@clacke Has AI ever been a useful term? I remember, back when I was a student in the late 80s, a lecturer telling us that a major problem with AI is that nobody has a working definition of what intelligence actually is. As far as I am aware, this is still the case.

@clacke That's reasonable, but I don't think that decision automation is the same as intelligence.

@clacke I rewatched the 2021 Dune at the weekend. It's even better than I remembered.

It's been a long time since I saw the 1984 version, but I remember being very annoyed by the fact that that film largely missed the point of the book.

@clacke Now I'm tempted to go and watch The Lego Movie again. It really was a great film.

In a shocking development, Saturday night #pizza has been postponed for a day.

On the plus side, the #barbecue has been lit and I have a #beer.

@clacke I find that my weight always goes up at the weekend, but tends to fall back down during the week.

I find that soft drinks tend to be too sweet. Fruit juices are my preference if I don't want any alcohol.

I've just spent two hours emptying the garage and I can't believe how much junk we have accumulated over the last 20 years.

I deserve a beer.
