Also I picked up a Beaglebone Pocket this weekend. It's basically a stripped down BeagleBone Black with just the GPIO headers, SD card reader, and a USB port.
But this is so TINY!
What's cool is it's also built in Michigan.

Glad I was able to write one article for you back in 2012. Though you slowly became a shadow of yourself you still were a great resource.
To the happy days.
@eskay8 This might seem weird but I use rss2email to send my rss feedst o my email client. I have a procmail filter which tucks them into a folder. That way it's just another inbox in my email client.
@gargron I hope UNIX / Linux never lose these little bits of humor.
Signed up for Picked on the merits of it bring part of The Mozilla Foundation now. I want to support the good folks over there. Maybe some day I'll go premium.
Today I received a sponsored ad from them in my email for a well known online mattress retailer.
Now I'm not sure I want to even use pocket anymore.
That's a really bad look #mozilla.
@briecs GNUSocial is a platform that interfaced with Mastodon (still does). It grew out of a lot of "free speech" folks and has a tendency to have a lot of folks that value free speech over being sensitive about their speech. So having folks who try to have a more nurturing environment with block lists / silencing is anathema to a lot of the GNUSocial folks.
@ajroach42 For remote work I've had decent luck with Stack Overflow Jobs. Not that it's actually resulted in a job yet but at least it's resulted in positive interviews.
I have yet to find a freelance job site that doesn't make me want to lose my lunch in my mouth though.
@cwebber You're going to make it. That we already are seeing the fruits of this process is proof that it's working and worth it.
Just took a look at the Toys R Us catalog.
I should not recognize about 70% of the toys in this catalog.
I should be going "what the hell is a blorplefort?"
They had Mr Bucket and Crossfire like see Ted as new games. Unfortunately, no, those are re-releases.
Seriously, my generation can't seem to let the next generation be creative can we?
@lmorchard That's how I'm planning on using birdsite: as a repository for blog posts and OMC announcements. And the occasional response. But as for generating content they can get bent.
Testing NSFW sensitivity in Tootstream.
@Efi And there were one set of tracks instead of two
and I asked "Lord, why were there one set of tracks"
and he responded "Sandpeople always travel single file to hide their numbers".
As with any journalism I'm sure there's more to the story than is presented here.
Even so, this is pretty damning:
Chaos Manor is silent today as we learn of the passing of Jerry Pournelle.
Would that Byte Magazine had outlasted you, sir.
RIP.
@lnxw48a1 It's all bullshit all the way down; like a bullshit Mandelbrot..
So many bright people I know are either out of work or are dissatisfied with their current employment. Wish there was some way I could figure out how to weave all of this talent into something where everyone could be happy and fulfilled. There has to be a way; some sort of cosmic pattern we can use to make things into a quilt of awesome or something.
Debating on what to name my production company.
Typing Monkey Productions has it's appeal, but also considering "My Left Nut".
Since it seems there's a lot of things that people would give "My Left Nut" for.
What?
In accordance with Mastodon's brand guidelines the words awoo, toot, boost, and pineapple shall be used with wild abandon. Furthermore we shall toot like a granddather after eating a plate of beans, boost like a jet pack, and pineapple like they want to take it off our pizzas
And we will all the way Frank Sinatra would if he could..
@chr @ccolocho Have you checked out Talk Python to Me?
Also: Ken and Robin Talk About Stuff is one of my favorites, but that centers on RPG play and game design (along with history).
