@lnxw48a1 Please read #AndStatus Change log. It is inside application in the menu -> Help, and here: http://andstatus.org/changelog.html In particular, Mentions timeline is replaced by Interactions... Regarding slow work right after upgrade: this is expected, because after main database modifications several long running "data fixers" are started, which fully complete the upgrade. @mcscx
@silverwizard Different "Types of Social Networks" in #AndStatus correspond to different client APIs. Friendica's client API was adapted to be compatible with #GNUSocial specifically to be able to use client applications, which work with GNU Social.
@silverwizard wrote: "AndStatus is an Android app for OStatus clients" This is wrong. #OStatus is a server-to-server protocol, #AndStatus connects to servers using server-to-client protocols. This is why AndStatus doesn't know and doesn't depend on OStatus protocol. Moreover, #Mastodon 's client-to-server protocol is still based on outdated Twitter like API, not on #ActivityPub, unfortunately. @jackyalcine
@maiyannah ... 9. Try to authenticate using the same credentials as at the step 3. Expected result: You are authenticated successfully and see the same JSON as at the step 5. Actual result: You cannot authenticate even after repeated attempts. --- I don't have IOS device to test above scenario. Could you try? PS: I don't see any problem with the site certificate. @bob@primatemind.info (part 2 of 2)
@maiyannah Did you call me, the brave User? :-) As I understand, we are talking about "Basic authentication" at https://community.highlandarrow.com site?! Just now I made this test from my Windows 10 PC + Google Chrome browser helping to show that the problem is not specific to Android: 1. In tab 1 of the browser navigate to https://community.highlandarrow.com/main/public . 2. Web UI opens. 3. Authenticate yourself, if not authenticated yet. 4. In the tab 2 try to access URL of the Home API: https://community.highlandarrow.com/api/statuses/home_timeline.json 5. JSON response with social network messages appears without any credentials prompt. 6. Switch to the tab 1 and log off (click your avatar at the top for the log out menu item). 7. Switch to the tab 2 (where you're at https://community.highlandarrow.com/api/statuses/home_timeline.json ) and refresh the page. 8. "Authentication Request" popup opens. ... @bob (part 1of 2)
@einhornpups #AndStatus saves currently viewed timeline position before each timeline update, and restores it (i.e. scrolls the list to the same message) after the update. In a case the stored position (last viewed message) cannot be found, AndStatus scrolls to the top of the list. Maybe this will give you a clue, why this happens in your case.
@semidigni It's really interesting. I thought that what you just described as "The whole known network" in Quitter actually IS "Public timeline" in the GNU Social's client API and in AndStatus.
@colegota As I understand, this is not AndStatus, but a GNU Social server (quitter.es in your case) that "linkifies" your message and creates hidden href link attribute. AndStatus linkifies plain-text messages only. In a case of GNU Social it uses already linkified/HTMLified text, provided by a server. Anyway, could you explain this feature in more details? I mean, I need concrete example pairs, each consising of: 1. String that you type in AndStatus 2. URL that you want this string to point to after the "linkifying"
@mama21mama Oops, after step 1 you should switch to "Public combined" timeline. If you want to see the timeline for selection in the future, go to "Manage Timelines" and turn on "Display" option of this timeline.
@mama21mama Initially only "Public combined" timeline is created. If you want to see and sync Public timeline of concrete server: 1. Turn "Combined" on in the Navigation Drawer 2. Switch to account on that server/"instance" 3. Turn "Combined" off. Now you see Public Timeline of that instance (not synced yet) 4. Tap "Sync with Internet" in the Action bar to sync the Public timeline. https://quitter.no/attachment/898367
@vloev I remember our conversation on a proper name for a "GNU Social instance", Twitter and Pump.io from a client application's (AndStatus) point of view. And you know, each GNU Social instance _today_ is a Social network AND the whole Pump.io is ONE Social network (although it also has federated architecture). Because each Social network has its own Users and messages. Yes, Twitter-like client API of GNU Social leads to inability to see a federation as one Social network. More on this in this API discussion: https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/419 @sim
@ziggys Q1. What AndStatus version do you use now? The only major change which could affect network connections, was done in v.25.03 (in Beta now) Please go to "Manage accounts" and do "Reverify" your Pump.io account.
@mmn Thank you for reply. I remember why this behavior appeared in Twitter API of AndStatus many years ago: some fields in Twitter had "null" as a string value meaning null as nothing.
@heluecht That will mean 2 clicks to switch a timeline instead of 3. Does that really that important? But if we would creat a one click switch between Default timeline and any second timeline, you could simply make e.g. "Everything" your default timeline and if you need, switch to Mentions and back to Everything in one click. Switching to other timelines would still require 3 clicks. This looks more convenient for people, who uses not more than 2 timelines most of the time?! @andstatus
