we all have #git ♺ @vsatayamas: I forgot how to use #subversion.

Rebasing on top of rebased predecessors is not working well. I think there's a convoluted solution, which involves more #rebasing.

@drak yeah, if #git had the interface of bazaar, I could use it, but not when it's at this state :-P

#hammock time now: welterusten allemaal! (etc.) !tzag !fediverse !fediverso see you #tomorrow for more #git adventures ;)

well, great breakthrough today! in spite of that, I'm still running into #git walls not quite understanding what the different commands actually *do*. But never mind, I'll learn. And I'm working towards an application (setting up ASUSTOR NAS as Git repository server) that no one has described so far - in fact there's an open question about that on the forum. So I plough on, and will get there in the end :) #hal #remote #ssh_config
-
After yet another bout of trial and error and looking at examples in yet more tutorials, I have FINALLY figured out how to use the ssh "shortcut" set up in ssh_config to connect to a remote Git repository on Hal. This syntax I have NOT found in any tutorial yet - I just had a brainwave after reading so many! \o/ #git #ssh #ssh_config #shortcut #git_remote #hal #brainwave
-
still struggling with almost constant sleepyness, although it's getting marginally better. not feeling awake enough to do any #git analysis/learning or hacking though.
-
OK, I *finally* managed to get something from #git repo on #Hal after hours of trial and error and totally misleading error messages. But I've only gotten it to work with SSH password, not with the keypair setup I had prepared. #disappointing :( Calling it a day... I still have one IPA !beer left!
-
*sigh* I'm trying to construct all sorts of variations of a path to a 'remote' Git repository on Hal (NAS) but I keep getting the same error message: "error: pathspec 'hal/volume1/Web/content/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven-child' did not match any file(s) known to git." I've run out of plausible variations :( #git #hal
-
I *think* I have the (SSH) URL for one of my remote (on Hal) repositories right - at least the 'git add remote' finished without grumbles. Now trying to decide which command to use to get some code from the server into my local practice project... pull, fetch, clone? I've already decided I don't need clone (now). Pondering this over my morning #tea. #git #hal This is instructive: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/292357/what-are-the-differences-between-git-pull-and-git-fetch

good morning goedemorgen buenas días bom dia bonjour tere hommikust (etc.) !tzag !fediverse !fediverso - today I will get remote connection to #Hal from #Nikola working for #Git! Nearly there, just a few more little steps :)
-
@mk I did everything right except I had forgotten one small detail: the permissions of the .ssh directories and the keys in them. There was no inkling of a grumble about that - but that was the problem! I found detailed instructions here: http://www.namhuy.net/2433/ssh-login-without-password.html After changing permissions, I can FINALLY loging to Hal with SSH without password prompt. \o/ And that means I'll be able to set up access to remote repositories on Hal for Git (#tomorrow). #ssh #permissions #keypair #git #hal

@bobjonkman @dragnucs I found another excellent #Git #tutorial here: https://www.atlassian.com/git/tutorials/ clearly explained and beautifully designed, too.

nearly done setting up a whole series of repos on Hal (NAS), one for each plugin and theme I will wirk on or *may* work on. this will then match "projects" in my IDEs. Still have to work out how to connect to a "remote" (NAS) repo from Nikola, probably keypair auth with SSH, but it seems there are at least three different ways/protocols to connect so I have to study that. Still, making a LOT of progress! #hal #nas #git #ide
