So, here's the thing. It takes me about two hours to bike to work and change in the winter. Less so in the summer, and even less in the spring and fall, but that is time I could put back into the #FLOSS community. The truth is though that time will go to blocSonic, which isn't necessarily bad. I'm able to do things like #ccma and maybe some !freeculture stuff will come out of it. I could potentially use that time to bring back #MusicManumitExtra and I could have on more #freesoftware devs in the audio space. That's something that might actually happen. Perforce is just a few of blocks away. I'd be getting almost all of that time back. However, then I'd need to workout separately, but I could maybe start playing soccer again, or go for longer cycling errand rides on the weekend.
I never felt comfortable working for a wholly proprietary software company (www.epic.com), even if we used a lot of FLOSS internally.
One thing I don't know is how much it would pay. Perhaps the recruiter will get back with me about a range tomorrow.
!freeculture is something I'd like to promote during the cc music awards next summer. Would anyone be interested in spearheading free culture categories? It's not likely to happen given those currently involved
Anybody ever seen a track that #Clementine can't rate? Never seen this before. It's not that the ratings don't stick. There are literally no stars in the player. It's not a playlist setting because everything else on the playlist has them.
I finally got the go-ahead from Thomas to get an intern to work on http://ampslam.com. I'd like someone to strip out all the proprietary js, among other things. We are happy to fill out the paperwork for credit. Next semester or the summer are both fine. Other internship opportunities (particularly marketing) are available, but I figure code is the thing the most people here have connections.
If someone else wants to volunteer time to strip out the proprietary stuff, I can try to make that happen as well. All final decisions will be made by Thomas.
after 10+ years of CC and 5+ years of Music Manumit, I finally have an all !ccmusic band in my top 5. It won't be too awfully long until I have 2 in my top 10. Nine Inch Nails are in the top 10 now, but not all CC. First "all" !freeculture band rolls in at 33. I use scare quotes because Lorenzo's Music has some covers that are CC BY-NC-SA (that live album may even be CC BY-NC-ND) but regardless, all their original material is CC BY-SA
@lrockhq you hadn't seen the last one I sent, so I guess I'll send this one, even though I think it's bigger in the scene: http://publicdomainreview.org/
