Sadly, I don't think Mastodon supports groups yet, so you may need to join an actual GNUsocial or PostActiv instance. http://sn.jonkman.ca/group/fs http://sn.jonkman.ca/group/openhardware http://s.russwurm.org/group/freeculture -

You're right, it's a huge privacy violation, and the End-User-Licence-Agreement allowing them to insert ads in your readouts just makes it worse. Do they make you sign up for an Outlook or Facebook account to keep up-to-date? I hope not. We need more !OpenHardware that runs !FreeSoftware. In conversation from sn.jonkman.ca permalink -

For any device that runs on software it will be cheaper to have flashable firmware, since the manufacturer won't ever be stuck with millions of chips permanently coded with flawed code. Bricked a router just resetting its NVRAM, infinite flashes on the power LED. Read that it might just be a bad power brick. Had a slightly heftier brick from an ATA I wasn't using (same voltage, more current); still a flashing power LED. Start reading about JTAG and building my own cable; glance over at the router, and the LEDs are solid on! I can haz WebUI again! !openhardware In conversation from sn.jonkman.ca permalink -
