    I've yet to end up watching an owncast stream, as for peertube all I've seen so far is throwing a custom converse.js thing for XMPP or some lame-ass IRC web client.

    @a1ba @drq Nah, peertube needs to stop being gitlab-like in terms of installation mess.

    Just ask for an XMPP server address and link/provide docs for how to setup one.
    Imagine being on yunohost kind of system and ending up with multiple prosody installs.

    peertube seems horribly hostile to that.

    weblate, gitlab, … basically all just tell you to fuck off to docker.

    @a1ba @drq Well, people should choose distros for what they are, if packaging on it sucks and/or you don't like it's repositories or package manager, then leave it for another.

    And yeah, I won't use yocto again, it's fucking crap.

    The recipes are quite broken and the package manager is just awful.

    I think I'd rather try something like GuixSD or NixOS instead if gentoo isn't a good fit (which I can entirely understand, a lot of my stuff runs alpine).

    @a1ba @drq I think my kind of fakeroot replacement would be roughly: bwrap --bind / / --unshare-user --uid 0 --gid 0 -- $command

    This way it works without using dynamic linking as a backdoor (I’m the kind which will likely remove things like LD_PRELOAD from the dynamic linker at some point).

    Things like fucking with the kerning so much that rn looks like m at first glance, or picking fonts that are like full of homoglyphs on purpose.

    And yeah it's not just font, it's a mentality issue, I wish professional designers would be better but it's barely the case.

    @amolith It's on my own instance though, very same machine, and if ActivityPub would be XML then I would have done some layers of compatibility. (I explored that a bit when OStatus was still a thing btw)
