Actually, I think a worthy goal would be just a download you can use in a browser, even if you couldn’t import it to another server. At least you HAVE your data.

I do see the site admin scripts are still around to xfer a user from one site to another. It worked in SN, I wonder about GS.

More than internet speed, it’s processor speed. On an old netbook it took 2 days to get to the reboot. On my desktop with 4 processors and 16GB RAM even the kernel only took a few minutes. Once you get it all installed, a Gentoo system is about the lightest there is if you use the use flags to strip off unneeded parts & libraries.

Dual booting Parabola GNU/Linux-libre (Arch Linux) and Gentoo at home now.

A 21st century literary Irish author does a remarkable job of capturing the hard boiled feel of Los Angeles in the 50’s. At the same time he inserts a few winks and nods to show us he’s there in the background.

Evelyn Beatrice Hall (1868 – after 1938), who wrote under the pseudonym S. G. Tallentyre, was an English writer best known for her biography of Voltaire entitled The Friends of Voltaire, which she completed in 1906.

In her biography on Voltaire, Hall wrote the phrase: “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it” (which is often misattributed to Voltaire himself) as an illustration of Voltaire’s beliefs. Hall’s quotation is often cited to describe the principle of freedom of speech.
