hypolite (hypolite@friendica.mrpetovan.com)'s status on Friday, 13-Oct-2023 07:46:30 UTC hypolite @aeveltstra I do, out of my view most of the time, which doesnβt make it suitable for such a trivial action to check the time. π -

hypolite (hypolite@friendica.mrpetovan.com)'s status on Tuesday, 26-Sep-2023 23:28:25 UTC hypolite @clacke Unlike some of the commenters in the original thread, I don't believe it would have made the movie that different. Human brains still interface with the Matrix in the "human battery" version, and it keeps the passive/active in society duality intact which is one of the core pillar of the movie, not the Matrix implementation details. -

hypolite (hypolite@friendica.mrpetovan.com)'s status on Monday, 11-Sep-2023 07:32:13 UTC hypolite @clacke I was on board about the overarching question about humanity in all these Ridley Scott's movies, and then came the screencap comparisons and I tuned out. -
hypolite (hypolite@friendica.mrpetovan.com)'s status on Monday, 11-Sep-2023 07:32:02 UTC hypolite @clacke It's confusing to me how this article started as an interesting high-level comparison between Blade Runner, Alien and Prometheus to crash and burn into superficial visual comparisons and speculations over details. This reminds me of this recent post about worldbuilding: friendica.mrpetovan.com/displa⦠-

hypolite (hypolite@friendica.mrpetovan.com)'s status on Monday, 04-Sep-2023 02:12:42 UTC hypolite @clacke @WillRobinson My school organizes a crowdfunding campaign every year where parents are suggested a donation for supplies for one kid, and encouraged to give more for families having difficulty affording it.
It ends up being cheaper for everybody because they can order wholesale, and the cost is spread on more people.

hypolite (hypolite@friendica.mrpetovan.com)'s status on Monday, 04-Sep-2023 02:12:41 UTC hypolite @clacke @WillRobinson I disagree, this policy would be efficient even if families were purchasing their supplies themselves, which is what I've always known in France. -
hypolite (hypolite@friendica.mrpetovan.com)'s status on Monday, 04-Sep-2023 02:12:40 UTC hypolite @clacke Did they have to purchase school supplies themselves or were the schools supplying everything as well? -
hypolite (hypolite@friendica.mrpetovan.com)'s status on Monday, 04-Sep-2023 02:12:38 UTC hypolite @clacke No notebooks, organizers, markers, art paper, scissors, compass, protractor? -
hypolite (hypolite@friendica.mrpetovan.com)'s status on Monday, 04-Sep-2023 02:12:37 UTC hypolite @clacke Interesting, my parents had to also buy the paper I was writing or drawing on and the organizers to fit it in by subject. I can understand how foreign my current situation sounds to you, then, when it actually feels like an improvement to me. -
