@existentialbro Oh, and I'm also a proponent of making people lose their jobs quicker. Either through more automation - not having to work as much - or just working less. How about not working - or doing related tasks - for more than 1/3 of our lives, huh? Arguing that "people lose their jobs" is pretty lame according to me, as I argue that people shouldn't have to work... -

That article discusses what happens in the horrible situations _before_ coming into Europe. That article mentions nothing regarding black market, modern slavery or anything else after coming ashore on European mainland.
So if you meant to use it as some kind of argument for how they ruin our Western society, I'm afraid you failed. -

@existentialbro The "housing crisis" in Sweden is btw due to centralisation in larger cities (I live in one of those) draining the villages not along Sweden's coastline. Actually - fun fact - the villages have thanks to newcomers often gained economically and socially thanks to all these new people coming to Sweden.
Outside of the large cities there are so many empty houses, abandoned schools etc. etc. and also people out of work (majority of jobs are in the larger cities, draining the landsbygd) that newcomers can be easily facilitated and taken care of.
While it may cost an initial amount of government funding this means that villages can survive much better - and the social and economical benefits through that I would argue is worth a lot. State and municipal funding in Sweden is very common anyway, so no big new investment there - it's possible this could just be regarded as moving expenses from unemployment support to paying salary! -

@existentialbro It's obvious you are not considering these issues rationally and base your opinions on subjective ideas, emotions and vague figures without any factual references.
People who have managed to get out of their countries as part of economic migration are generally educated or at least skilled people (except maybe the young children who come along) and have had enough money to arrange for transport (_not_ trafficking, as they are not controlled by anyone). Do you really think poor, unskilled people could afford the transport?! Furthermore, these people can contribute greatly to society since they are _already_ qualified for work (but unfortunately in many countries not legally allowed to work for various bullshit reasons) -
