the thing I was thinking about is if there was something Music Manumit, blocSonic, or maybe the #CCMA could do for people in the community with mental health issues. There's no reason not to use the connections I already have, even if I can't be as involved in those projects as I was. !ccmusic !ccmsc !musicians !depression
I probably should use the !mentalhealth group more, but meh Mastodon.
I'm done with #hiphop an #rock / #pop, since the judges aren't actually doing those for some reason. Now, I need to figure out if I need to do !jazz. If you've got a favorite !ccmusic jazz track or album, send it my way. !music !musicians
Also, it's worth noting that Music Manumit got started out of the thought of doing something exactly like this, and we thought we needed to build up more community involvement.
No, Tom is not willing to do whatever application you prefer for VOIP other than the ones listed. However, we CAN do US phone #s. Audio quality is not great, but neither are shit Internet lines, so we've come to accept it's an option. It's not something we are likely to ever put on our details page.
Eventually, I'd like to bring back Music Manumit Extra, where it will just be me and I can use free software tools. I've got to find a new job first though.
We don't really interview podcasters any more. Tom just doesn't find those conversations interesting, although if you podcast and release music or have an interesting application, it might be worth a shot.
Another Monday, another evening doing music hack stuff at !umehack. Not so much new things got done today, but figured out a few issues with the sync patch.
Also jammed a bit, got something darkish going. Completely computerless, again, with just a PO-12, and an EA-1, Axoloti for sync, all run through a small shitty amp and recorded on the phone. Lo-fi as fuck. !musicianshttps://social.umeahackerspace.se/attachment/107624
Todays music hack setup. Axoloti+PO-12+EA-1 for sound. MPK mini for playing one part of the Axoloti patch (the other is translating MIDI clock from the EA-1 to clock signal for the PO-12). Sound routed through everything to end up on the EA-1 output, into a guitar amp.
Have been in Copenhagen for five days inhaling jazz. Have jammed at La Fontaine and Montmarte both, listened, talked, danced, drank cheap and not-so-cheap beer, seen world-class musicians fall asleep sitting down, seen world-class musicians kill it completely on stage and in jams, and in general had a great time.
Things I've done too little of: slept, jammed, practised, eaten
Things I intend to more of these last two days: jam
Things I intend to do once I get home: Practise Practise Practise Jam Practise Sleep
It's inspiring to see all these great musicians, but also _very_ intimidating. I'm nowhere near as good as I want to be.
Hey !musicians, did I tell you about Music Tech Fest? Really Cool Thing going down in Berlin late May! Not a traditional festival, nor an industry event, workshop or hackathon, instead it's very much a creative laboratory for experimenting with technology in and around music. Artists, hackers and other similar ilk meeting and interacting and testing.
I'll be running a (invite-only) Blockchain Lab in the week running up to the festival, but there's going to be SO MANY incredible people and things happening at the main event that I don't even know where to begin.
Music hackin! Luckily we had some conponents already since @tomas earlier experiments (and because, you !umehack is a hackerspace and whatnot). !musicians
First gig with our own tunes. Damn, this band actually sounds pretty good if I may say so myself :) I think the venue was actually the limiting factor in this case.
Recording some gospel covers with a (very) different band tomorrow, but I think we'll try to get the tunes from tonight recorded at some point too... Stay tuned, and keep an eye out for Container City ;) !musicians !ccmusic
