Can we please get rid of daylight savings time? Please?

everyone.

@rysiek
Can we get metric time as well? :blobaww:
*ducks*
I mean in 2019 the European Parliament voted by 410 to 192 in favor โฆ
Did it just happen for proving the EU is able to vote?
@rysiek really at this point i'm curious who is actually arguing for it? Aren't we at a point by now where people can just... you know... NOT change their clocks?
@rysiek What is Daylight Saving Times
:: Laughs at americans who have it ::
@aryak I think you're making some assumptions that do not hold
@wmd no.
@rysiek aw, why not?
@rysiek
Can we also get rid of timezones?
@hypolite @heluecht @wmd I find it pretty useful to know that lunchtime around the world is roughly 12:00-13:00. That morning ends around 12:00, and that 19:00 is considered evening.
Keeping track of this if there were no time zones would be an exercise in pure frustration. No thanks.
Except those assumptions are wrong. I've seen lunchtime from 13.00 or later, and certainly lasting longer. And what means is also quite different across the globe.
And should we really stick to these concepts of only eating/breaking/working at set times?
@hypolite @heluecht @wmd oh, 24h time format for the win. AM/PM is bull.
I would have it cycle, so when the day changes for you changes over time. You can do that nicely by taking a proper/neat fraction of year
@meena @rysiek ah, here's more about it https://www.timeanddate.com/time/europe/eu-dst.html
@meena @rysiek if i remember correctly, some eu organ has already approved of getting rid of dst, and the current procedural step is to wait what national parlaments say about it, but this has stalled because national parlaments have been busy with covid stuff and such, and the issue is not high on current eu chair's agenda. so we'll just have to wait and see.
> U.S. Senate approves bill that would make Daylight Savings Time permanent in 2023
> The U.S. Senate voted unanimously on Tuesday to make Daylight Savings Time permanent, a move supporters say would make winter afternoons brighter and end the twice changing of clocks.
I had no clue I have such power.
@rysiek how big is the chance EU will do this anytime soon?
Can also go for this :)
