@jens Do you need wikis? I just tested the migrations, and it appears to work if you tick everything except the wiki (there seems to be a bug in the Gitlab wiki migration) @6543
Starting in May, we want to employ our first mini jobber (student job with low wage), to compensate a core contributor for their work on Gitea and Codeberg and to allow further moving on with some topics.
Since this means touching some of our allocated funds, we appreciate every donation, especially regular, to allow to spend the ~500 € / month. 💙
As previously announced: We are preparing our #hackathon the second weekend in April, from 8th to 10th of April. Hacking on #Gitea, #Codeberg, #woodpeckerCI, small projects and bots or whatever you can think of ...
#Codeberg is now running #Gitea 1.16, in case you missed the changes that appeared recently (e.g. our revamped dark theme etc). Thanks to the maintainers and all the contributors who made this possible.
@ck git-send-email is not a low barrier. Many people don't even know how to configure an email client, because they are used to all those proprietary webmailers from "free of charge, full of tracking" service providers.
Many of them require OAuth, so configuring password-based SMTP access is complicated.
Only because tech-savy people find email easy, this does not mean that anyone knows how to "simply" send an email. without their usual tooling.
@ck I personally considered some either Git push option so that pushing back to an upstream repo where you don't have permissions automatically creates a pull request (and ideally not even a fork).
I sometimes also wonder why people expect long texts in PRs when commit messages say it all.
Thansk for everyone who recommended #Codeberg to their friends, collaborators and favourite projects.
Although not everyone moved to Codeberg because of this (which is fine!), we spread awareness about alternatives and that development does not equal #Git**b. This is what matters!
@silmathoron We threw some ideas around for an external API-based service, fetching IMAP accounts, converting into issues and MRs, or forwarding requests from Codeberg to other, e.g. proprietary, forges.
Maybe I'll spell this out and create an issue, but we'd need community contributions - we can't currently work on that ourselves. @clacke
