@theruran I look forward to reading anything you might write. We are sorely in need of new ideas around these topics. At the moment, with few exceptions, the software commons seems to have been successfully enclosed by corp interests, which is why we keep seeing articles like the one above.

Your friendly 'net denizen (cstanhope@social.coop)'s status on Tuesday, 06-Feb-2024 17:47:40 UTC Your friendly 'net denizen I read an article like this, and I can't help but think, "Maybe if we keep doing things the same way, it'll be different this time."

I'm not saying Corbet is saying that. It's just that these articles crop up relatively often, and yet... It seems precarity in open source is an essential feature of how it is currently being organized.

They live together, train Taekwondo together, attend University of Central Florida together, and are all orphans."
At least according to wikipedia.

"The moon has long been recognized as a significant stabilizer of Earth's orbital axis. Without it, astronomers have predicted that Earth's tilt could vary as much as 85 degrees. In such a scenario, the sun would swing from being directly over the equator to directly over the poles over the course of a few million years, a change which could result in dramatic climatic shifts."

Good thing the moon is there!

Your friendly 'net denizen (cstanhope@social.coop)'s status on Tuesday, 31-May-2022 16:05:06 UTC Your friendly 'net denizen @ColinTheMathmo As long as you "wonder if I am similarly afflicted with an excessive confidence in my abilities" you are likely always going to be open to others opinions and open to collaboration and open to growth and self-improvement and open to new ideas and approaches and open to empathy for others (and hopefully not too hard on yourself). That's the sort of qualities I find valuable and attractive in people I work with. :)

I did see that (and I should've dropped that in my original toot ), but I was hoping to hear testimonials from people who may have actually relied on any of those companies' services.
If I don't hear from anybody on here about recommendations, I'll probably start to reach out to those that look the most promising and see what sort of response I get.

Do you have any recommendations for companies that provide hosting for Trac combined with subversion and git repositories? I don't mean setting up a vm and self-hosting. I mean a company that takes care of keeping the services running for me.
Thanks in advance!
