stig atle (stigatle@quitter.no)'s status on Saturday, 29-Jul-2017 18:02:46 UTC stig atle So what do you all think? Will North Korea launch a nuke at US or others?
Or will they kill Kim before he gets the chance?
I wonder what will happen Kim get's killed and the country is 'liberated'..
I'm guessing USA is keen on all the minerals \ precious metals and such that the country is sitting on. -
stig atle (stigatle@quitter.no)'s status on Saturday, 29-Jul-2017 17:59:37 UTC stig atle @boris Factorio seems good, I have it on my wishlist, but have not played it yet, just remember reading about it during development and read about it after release. Seems like a lot of people enjoy playing that game. -
stig atle (stigatle@quitter.no)'s status on Saturday, 29-Jul-2017 13:54:57 UTC stig atle Things are going well, home alone for some hours (kids and Marlyn are at her parents house up the street), so I'm just catching up on my computer.
Browsing the web, playing games, listening to music, compiling software :) The usual hehe. -
Bob Mottram (bob@social.freedombone.net)'s status on Saturday, 29-Jul-2017 13:25:12 UTC Bob Mottram @elizafox I think it was a few years ago I reached the point where I thought supporting Windows users was no longer a good idea. Windows is high maintenance and has an increasing number of proprietary problems which aren't solvable by a technician, but mainly I just don't want to help maintain the Microsoft hegemony or be linked to that company in any way.
So these days if someone comes to me with a borked Windows laptop in an update boot cycle or overloaded with malware I tell them that I can help get them going again by installing a GNU/Linux distro (something like Ubuntu MATE LTS), but I can't help them with Windows.
The only exception I'd make to that is that if someone is willing to pay a good amount of money then I might consider helping them with Windows, but that rarely happens in practice as money is becoming generally scarce around here. -
stig atle (stigatle@quitter.no)'s status on Saturday, 29-Jul-2017 13:26:13 UTC stig atle Playing through some of my 'classic' games, I've played through Quake 1, next up is Half Life 2. Have not played through that one since the release, so this will be exciting. -

stig atle (stigatle@quitter.no)'s status on Saturday, 29-Jul-2017 08:35:40 UTC stig atle @abjectio sad to see it go, but I also understand. And again - thank you for all that you have done for this site and the community. -

stig atle (stigatle@quitter.no)'s status on Friday, 28-Jul-2017 13:42:07 UTC stig atle Yeah, my plan during the winter is to get more into VR development for Linux. I finally got rid of windows for one of the projects I work on ( #yaics ), that was the last project I had that I needed windows for when making precompiled binaries. I set up cross compilation on my debian box, so now I do not need windows anymore at all. Also swapped out 3dsmax for blender , so I do not need it for any 3D work either anymore. -
stig atle (stigatle@quitter.no)'s status on Friday, 28-Jul-2017 12:28:31 UTC stig atle Yeah, valvle is pushing VR on linux because they want it in steam OS.
And I'm damn happy about valve paving the way for such things. They are the company that really pushed things over to linux. -
stig atle (stigatle@quitter.no)'s status on Friday, 28-Jul-2017 12:23:59 UTC stig atle I agree. same goes for my oculus, I backed it in the initial kickstarter campaign, they also was going to have linux support, but they dropped the ball on that pretty quick, then when facebook came a long it did not help either.
And then when the consumer version came along they sent me one consumer version for free since I backed the initial kickstarter project, but still no linux support. There is just one hope for that tought, and that is the fact that steam VR now is making its way to linux. -
stig atle (stigatle@quitter.no)'s status on Friday, 28-Jul-2017 12:15:14 UTC stig atle misread your question on my initial reply. Elite does not like wine at all, and being x64 bit only causes more problems it seems. I had high hopes for a native linux version, they have added it to consoles and such, but still no luck yet..
Eve works perfectly in wine, so I enjoy playing that. It's a bit different from Elite, but I like the gameplay. And it being free to play on steam is good, that way I get to spend enough time with it until I start paying. -
stig atle (stigatle@quitter.no)'s status on Friday, 28-Jul-2017 11:53:51 UTC stig atle Since Elite Dangerous has no linux support yet - I've started playing Eve Online on linux with wine (Elite dangerous does not work in wine yet). -
abjectio (knuthollund@quitter.no)'s status on Friday, 28-Jul-2017 11:39:12 UTC abjectio FYI quitter.no is now on "nightly" branch. I have also implemented restart of daemons and servers at 00.00 every night. There are 8-12 threads handling the queue to coop with the traffic. (approx 1000-2000 notices pr.hour - varies through the week). Working on getting RabbitMQ as the queue handler, however I receive notices and it is pushed into the RMQ queue, but it's not pulled back from the queue into the GS database. Looking into it again when time. !quitterno -
