#AndStatus v.34.01 "Showing Twitter tweets longer than 140 characters" published to the Open Beta testing channel https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/456 What's new: 1. Fixed Twitter tweets longer than 140 characters were shown truncated. 2. Default order of timelines improved with Home, Public, Search and Everything timelines now at the top. "Everything" timeline is now created for all Social networks to allow easily see all locally cached messages of a Social Network. Sort timelines by "Displ" column in the "Manage timelines" list (by clicking on the column header) to see, how they will be sorted in the "Select a Timeline" dialog. Clicking "Set as Default Timeline" timeline's context menu item permanently moves the timeline above other timelines. Previous default timeline becomes the second in the "Select a Timeline" list. New action "Reset timelines order" added to the "Manage timelines" list helping existing users to reorder timelines. 3. Started capturing Original message URL for GNU Social. So now for a message, received via your account's GNU Social instance, "Open in Browser" opens it at a web site, where the message was created, and not necessarily at this GNU Social instance. Unfortunately, not all GNU Social instances provide the "external_url" field to the client application... 4. Timeline header button added: "Synced .... Sync messages since..." to make more transparent, which timeline and when was synchronized and which timeline cannot be synchronized at all (e.g. "Drafts").
@gabriel You can have as many accounts in #AndStatus as you need. Regarding "mastodon.it", as for other Social networks that are not preconfigured: at first, you have to add the "mastodon.it instance" of the Mastodon type Social network to AndStatus. And then you will be able to add account(s) in that Mastodon instance.
@shel Thanks for noticing CW and "post scope" for #Mastodon. "CW" (Content warning) is just a message title, which Mastodon uses (today) as a spoiler to hide a "toot"?! I agree, the option to add a title is really needed as it is supported at least by Mastodon and #Pump.io. Post scope, as I see, is a simplified way to select the message recipients. The feature is actual for Pump.io also (which has Public and Followers predefined groups of recipients), so I will plan this also.
@omanreagan Andstatus has multiple account support, does notifications, works offline and can actually scroll a timeline (a lost art in Android development). The UI is a little clunky to set up at the start.
@einhornpups #AndStatus saves currently viewed timeline position before each timeline update, and restores it (i.e. scrolls the list to the same message) after the update. In a case the stored position (last viewed message) cannot be found, AndStatus scrolls to the top of the list. Maybe this will give you a clue, why this happens in your case.
#AndStatus is actively developed. Recent changes were driven by #Mastodon support. And this helped finding bugs, which affected all Social networks. The latest production version is 33.08
@deadsuperhero Inspiring news! Glad that I noticed them at least now :-) I didn't think #ActivityPub adoption campaign could be so active :-) Just this weekend I started to refactor internal data model of #AndStatus from "messages"/"users" with some "favorited", "followed" etc. attributes to "activities" with actors and actions... I'm trying to use terminology of ActivityPub/ActivityStreams as much as possible in order to make application's code more transparent... @maiyannah @cwebber @bob
It's a nice thought, and hopefully we can do that in the long term. But some part of me is apprehensive about the spec and the leg work it will take to support it.
There are certain unanswered questions, such as "Will ActivityPub support Diaspora's federated privacy controls?"
#AndStatus v.33.08 is available for beta testing at https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/456 1. First of all: simplified creation of a new Social Network for #Mastodon and #GNUSocial users. 2. "Favorites" timeline is now syncable for all types of social networks. It's set to be synced automatically by default for new installations. If you upgraded existing installation, you will need to go to the "Manage Timelines" menu item in the Timeline action bar and set "Sync" flag for "Favorites" timelines of all accounts. 3. Fixed syncing and showing of "Friends" and "Followers" timelines. Please try them! 4. Accuracy of the "Relative time" (... ago) increased. Now you will see "... minutes ago" up to 2 hours, then "... hours ago" up to 2 days, then "... days ago" up to three months and then - any number of "months ago". So no more "more than a year ago" for all old messages. 5. The first fix for: Occasionally message context menu doesn't work. https://loadaverage.org/attachment/3622812
