But probably at this point industrial ocean fishing is fairly indefensible.
@lain (The terrifying aspect was because of the caustic chemicals involved and the lack of protection provided to the workers... or, let me correct that: they were provided minimal protection, but I was told that the time pressure was intense enough that it was understood by everyone that it was unused)
@lain Even there, I visited a slum in Bombay where they were recycling plastic. Pretty terrifying to watch it in action, but anyway, they told me that they used to take plastic from the US and other countries but there is just too much domestically to handle anything other than just India itself now.
