    Legs tired and mildly trembling after only 17K steps. I am going to have to raise my daily step count target. I estimate that I used to do 20K-25K daily during my 20s and 30s, so this is not acceptible.

    @fu I can see it if the local rates cannot be lower than the statewide range. At one point, CA hadn't raised its wage in years. In CA, charter cities and towns have more powers than general law cities and towns, so several charter cities raised their minimums. In one case I remember, a shopping mall was partly in a city with a higher minimum wage.

    The stores in the other half were understaffed, as anyone who could get hired at the higher wage side left the lower wage side.

    This was years ago, so I can't find the link now.

    #sonTwo told me that #GS3 isn't really interacting with the other kids ... which isn't unexpected, since he hasn't really spent much time with others his age. They tried to get the kids to dance and sing a song together, but he has never been one to join in. Apparently, he sang a few words toward the end of the song.

    Talking to people who live in towns of 5K-10K people tells me they are often miserable. Perhaps not as miserable as city folks are, but still miserable.

    We need to think about what we're doing that is so alienating.

    #GS3 recently started a Summer enrichment program that puts him with a group of 4-6 year old kids. He's still got a year before he starts school, but the social interaction should be beneficial.

    I had wondered how his 2 year old brother ( #GS4 ) would react to the 4 year old going somewhere fun without him, but he seems to be fine with it.

    The ladt couple of days, #T-Mobile home Internet has been mostly unusable. But last night around 23:00, it suddenly went from 0.0 kbps to 49.0 Mbps. I guess I need to change my sleep schedule until I can replace the ISP.

    (Their home Internet service is priority 9, so anytime there is network congestion, those customers' packets get delayed or dropped.)

    @clacke Nope. When I was in my early twenties, I wanted to work in DE or UK for a few years, but there was never any money to pay for going. Now? I'd love to visit for a couple of weeks, but I have zero desire to live there.

    Plus, they've got some racism issues that sound like visiting Mississippi. I can visit MS without going through customs.

    I am surprised that he took his sons hiking in those temperatures. 119⁰F / 48⁰C is so hot that the smart thing would be to find a pool with cooler water and keep your body temperature regulated that way. If there was humidity, that's even worse.
