    All this tablet sleuthery makes me think about my GNU Social usage.  I'm pretty transparent about a lot of things and I consider whatever I post here to be completely public.  Sometimes I wonder if I overshare but other times I just don't really care enough.  My primary concern in privacy is keeping the advertising barrage away from me (or misleading it as much as possible).  Secondary concern is potential non-state attackers.  Using my real name on a lot of things probably doesn't help much but a pseudonym is just security through obscurity.  It's difficult to get this sort of thing right.

    Tried to tear down this laptop to get a drop of oil into the screeching fan.  Broke the case around the LCD, which seems to have resolved the flickering LCD.  The fan no longer screeches but makes an exciting rhythmic grinding noise! This is the most complicated laptop I've ever tried to tear down.

    I'll find a purpose for it until it decides to burn out, I guess.  I was going to use it as a network bridge between my parents' house and my own but maybe I'll just rip DVDs with it or set up a temporary file server...

    My son asked if he could have it but there isn't much it'll do that he'd be interested in and I'd rather put it to some sort of useful purpose.

    Does Cuban Spanish differ heavily from the Spanish spoken in South America?  I know there are accents but I always have trouble understanding Radio Havana Cuba.
