@alpacaherder @lnxw48a1 i've requested that my account on the sdf instance be deleted. i check in about once every couple of weeks at the moment and a few gs users have reached out to me via xmpp and tox. i appreciate that folks noticed my absence. i'm tiring of the fediverse as it seems to be flooded with many users who's content i just don't care for and i can't seem to trim my subscriptions to get back to the same list of nice people, duffers, and hackers. i no longer see notices from my favorites because my timeline is flooded with other nonsense. i'm also concerned about over sharing as much as i do. i've systematically gone through and deleted as much of my online presence as i possibly could (cleaning up ancient accounts and so forth). this seems to be cyclical for me and i apologize for the mania. i'm posting on sdf's gopher server with some frequency and i'm available via xmpp/email/tox/voip, all listed at the bottom of http://manor.space/~cmhobbs. repeat if you like.
the hoards from twitter and the wave of mastodon instances seems to be fracturing the !fediverse a bit. i dislike all the change. this time it seems more intense than previous events like introduction of other federated servers or the pump event.
https://gs.sdf.org/attachment/335782 While exploring the end of the world (http://wiki.minetest.net/End_of_the_world) in !minetest and playing with mesecons a little, I teleported to one of the edges of the world and encountered a nyan cat! This is the third nyan I've seen in the wild in this game. They're supposedly super rare but maybe I've just created enough worlds and beat the numbers?
@strypey if you're trying to follow him via a gnu social instance, go to your following page and click 'remote follow' (or whatever the follow button says on your instance) and put in either his URL or his webfinger id.
@dtluna also, i wanted to say that i rarely agree with you but i appreciate your opinions and your interjections. sometimes the fediverse gets the echo chamber vibe and it's nice to see counter points.
@dtluna sure. We'll find a way to circumvent it. In the end, DRM may be a technical measure but it is a measure of control. Therefore it is also an issue of freedom.
As is tradition with the manor.space !minetest server, the starting area is now a massive forest fire. Good luck if you connect. Going to let this one burn on out for a few days and see if we don't crash the server. We'll generate a new map if things fall apart.
