!developers I'm currently experimenting with contact banners. I now thought of some default banner that could be used when no own banner had been uploaded. The great @lightone created awesome pictures for Friendica, so I thought of this picture as a default:
Currently this banner will not be visible in Friendica itself, but only on remote ActivityPub systems and via the API.
Ten years ago the 1st commit https://git.friendi.ca/friendica/friendica/commit/6348e70daa113e8b3203de8fbc919d08c90d972e to the git repository of Mistpark was made by Mike Macgirvin, a project that since has become Friendica accumulating some 27.000 commits contributing the work of more then 250 people from all around the world. Mistpark and Friendica themes from 2010 to 2020 Together we have build a social media platform that had many faces over the years. It has grown from a decentralized communication platform into an integral part of the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fediverse and Federation. Allowing its users to interact with their friends and family across the borders of nodes, projects and physical distance outside the world of data-harvesting corporations.
The quote "When the looting starts, the shooting starts" originated by a racist white Miami police chief named Walter Headley who targeted black people in 1967 ahead of the Republican convention.

@clacke Like I said: Communication is the key. When Diaspora changed its protocol, the whole process was well documented and communicated. So every software developer had enough time to prepare the switch as well. This worked very well.
I hope that the Mastodon team will help other teams as well, concerning the points where the specifications had been unclear.
Activity Streams itself is not a real problem, but several things in the Activity Pub specification had been held unclear. This means that there is much room for assumptions. It would be bad if different teams would come to different ones.
Means: I will always try to cooperate with the developers of the other networks. With some this will be more like a friendship, with others this will be more professional. That's just reality. But I won't drop support for some protocol just because of "politics".
I just discovered this thread and I have to agree with @Hypolite Petovan I like Diaspora as well. I like its very clean interface. Hubzilla and Redmatrix never got my attention since Friendica is doing everything that I want.
I like GNU Social as well (I do have an old Statusnet server and a GNU Social server on my system - both with several users) and I like the way that Mastodon is looking.
I don't feel any hate for any project you mentioned. My goal is to interconnect them all just because I dislike borders. Because of this goal I'm willingly to interact with any developer of the other networks to reach that goal.
