     I'm familiar with pages, but they aren't static, at least according to Matt Lee's definition of static, which I assume means no Javascript.

     That's what I figured but WordPress has a thing called "static" for the home page. It doesn't seem like this makes them static by any definition though...well, by the WordPress definition, obviously.

     Well, there in lies the problem. I *can't* set up a static page outside of WordPress.

     Regardless of differences, I don't currently have server access for !osp or as @dougsportazine. These are fixable, but I was messing about at https://douglasawh.wordpress.com/ to see if I could get something. I think the problem with WordPress.com is their ads, though I don't see any on the home page. Also, it appears http://builtwith.com/?https%3a%2f%2fdouglasawh.wordpress.com%2f has not picked up on the fact that I got rid of most of the widgets. Maybe it will look cleaner once it refreshes.

     yeah, but I don't think I can make a static site using WordPress. I suppose if I can remember my !OSP login information I can give that a shot and see what @mattl thinks.

     What I'd like to be able to do is have WordPress spit out an HTML file of my choosing that has no theming whatsoever. That way I can control what is going on there and the widgets and such aren't controlling it. The "static" pages still have the widgets though, so it doesn't solve anything at all as far as there being scripts on the page.
