!gs experience: just tried to #backup my account (1), have a 3.5MB file, but last entry from 11 days ago only :-( let's see if I am more successful with the backupuser script. cc !gnusocial (1) https://fediverse.com/main/backupaccount

@erkan script should be much more capable.

So, the "admin experience" of exporting my messages: 1. I have a 24MB file now, but still not all messages. Stopped at 2014-09-29 with (1), which I would need to change the limits for. (1) PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of <SNIP> bytes exhausted (tried to allocate <SNIP> bytes) in ../Obama_loves_gnusocial/classes/User_group.php on line 60

so, for the other accounts here: it works, probably because they have less posts. see pic https://fediverse.com/attachment/9760

for me it's not important, in the end, since I run !gs myself and can access the data, somehow at the end. #Important is that the normal users should be able to get their data out. But the more they post, the more likelier it will be that they won't be able to get easily out of the instance :-(
-
#backups are just the beginning part of the journey. the #imports (very likely to the #own instance) should also work. a "normal user" could in the end wget their data also (or find it on the other instances)

(1) https://attach.fediverse.com/erkan-20150216-backup_status-6v7x.png

In der Theorie sollte follower-Mitnahme mittels diesem Skript (1) gehen. In der Theorie ;-) . (1) http://www.skilledtests.com/wiki/Statusnet_problems#moving_to_another_instance.3F_take_your_friends_with_you

@erkan I imagine that to be a timeout problem. Some background process is creating the file but the web ui will cut it before it's finished.
