1. join #another server willing to do the change locally the UI msg 2. fork it and run your #own? (about: "A more neutral welcome message" https://github.com/hannesmannerheim/qvitter/pull/47 ) cc @question

You are partly wrong. there are many !gs servers (1) out there. It's the - let me say "stupidity" of the users to NOT select first and run like the #lemmings to a few. "partly wrong" because the old !gs guard is also at fault here :-( . Sorry, for using a harsh tone here. (1) http://www.skilledtests.com/wiki/List_of_Independent_GNU_social_Instances

Hannes gave his response and closed the issue originally. You can of course use your time to convince him otherwise
-
that's why I said above: fork and/or run your own server. The one who runs/owns the server decides. R E A L I T Y. Escaping from !twitter to a server not your own isn't much a difference in my view
-
don't get me wrong, I am not saying the issue you found is wrong (I am just saying, as also in reality: property and freedom have dilemma)
-
yes, or as I said: sign up on another server whose admin shares your ideals/goals/... ask around who will do that in the !fediverse
-
short answer: because he #owns the server (there are more longer ones)
-
there are better platforms/ways to "Get freedom" than !gs, as you are experiencing right now. cc !gnusocial

@espectalll123 yes, do that. good idea. convince people to run their own servers
-
idk, ask him. If it's a problem for you, I have suggested above ways for you to "escape", otherwise keep on convincing him
-
good view, I offer you to !help you set up your #own instance. ok? e.g. there's #openshift by #redhat for "free" as starters: http://skilledtests.com/wiki/Where_to_host_your_federated_system

@knuthollund yes, there's a note about that in the page
