At least for the time being they are doing work to help repelling the invasion. But yeah, not my kind of people, but I don't know enough to know well.

Azov has officially denounced neo-Nazi ideology and admitted that maybe 10-20% of their members do share these views, but it's their private matter. That's about 200 people in army of 200'000 soldiers.
To put that in context, there's a openly neo-Nazi subdivision in Wagner group (Russia), a group of neo-Nazis was in 2018 discovered by journalists among high German army officers, and in the US neo-Nazi symbolics and public marches are protected under First Amendment.

We have our own example of a "non-white-power" party in Sweden, founded by neonazis and "preserve Sweden Swedish" activists, but officially "no longer racists". The throw out people from time to time for being too overt about their racist views, but are still led by people who joined during their officially racist era, people who joined because they were attracted to the racism.

The military rules are unspecific but if you get found out you are removed. They check you for tattoos during your physical examination when you sign up.Santa Claes πΈπͺππ°π likes this.
