Whenever we can take resources from Google without giving anything back - or maybr even developing anti-Google-stuff - I think we should take those resources. The fact that they get some PR out of it (as @aral constantly complains about) is less important as I think they could get that anyway without contributing to !fs
Though I agree they shouldn't get any speaker time even if they "platinum sponsor" events.

Yeah, GNU/FSF have never put any resources in to GNU social apart from maintaining the general !fs politics worldwide.
Originally Evan had startup grants, I just put in my free time (which I barely have any left nowadays) and @diogo got the gsoc stuff.
While I enjoy the !ostatus solution much more than ActivityPub maybr we should see what has been generated "outside" of !gnusocial .) Think of how many people have managed to find their way out on the !fediverse even if it's maybe not via GS specifically. But it's all AGPL .)

hannes2peer et al from #EnKompisKompis by developing #qvitter were probably the primary reason we had a steadily growing userbase that eventually included the developers of today's most popular fediverse softwares, just so we don't forget them .)

Oh right, I also applied for and got grants from Internetfonden (.SE) which paid for some !umehack rents, which sort of gave me more free time.

I take what is theirs and use it against them. #SurvivalAnarchism

I want to put @diogo as maintainer (or co- if desired) .]

I'm afraid they can easily buy PR. But as I said, I don't think they should get uncriticised keynote time.
