@eds indeed BBC Basic's my favourite too. Inline assembler, procedures w/ local variables, etc. But: ROM used 32kB→only 32kB of64 kBRAM left
-
@tomas what a weird decision: The #Commodore64 has !Microsoft basic (which leaves much to be desired),compared to the decent #Sinclair Basic
-
@tomas ok, valid point :-)
-
@tekk @lnxw48a1 but the C64's MS Basic didn't support any graphics & sound capabilities of the machine. The Spectrum Basic did.
-
@tekk @lnxw48a1 On the Spectrum you could do:
PRINT AT 10,2; INK4; BRIGHT 1;"Hello"
and there were
PLOT, DRAW, CIRCLE
VERIFY, MERGE
etc
-
@tekk @lnxw48a1 when I got the Spectrum48k in 1983 the Spectrum was DM500, while the C64 was DM1200. And no need for proprietary Datassette

@eds afaik the Archimedes's RISC OS kept the BBC Basic, and RISC OS is avail for the !RasPi, so you could have BBC Basic today for free :-)
