tekk (tekk@social.tekk.in)'s status on Friday, 03-Nov-2017 00:47:48 UTC tekk When "new x" surpasses the population of the city it's named after, the older city should stop namesquatting. Looking at you, Old York. -
tekk (tekk@social.tekk.in)'s status on Tuesday, 31-Oct-2017 17:05:09 UTC tekk @lnxw48a1 This is actually a pretty big problem because there are IETF documents which specifically refer you to stuff on status.net . IETF needs to come up with a way to handle this (ICANN reserves the right to transfer any domains referenced in IETF documents to the IETF in case its owner folds, maybe?) -
tekk (tekk@social.tekk.in)'s status on Monday, 04-Sep-2017 22:54:50 UTC tekk @gargron As a GS user who has masto-friends, I wouldn't say that either is better, but rather that they serve different niches. Masto is better on the privacy aspect but it's shed useful features *cough*groups*cough* to get there (Or at least I ever see any masto-friends using groups). Just because I'm working on #up doesn't mean that I think it's inherently superior to #social or to #mastodon, but rather that I think it fills a different niche. -

tekk (tekk@social.tekk.in)'s status on Wednesday, 03-May-2017 03:09:59 UTC tekk Just read an article (saw it on @taknamay's feed) about how ssh got port 22. Went in expecting, you know, a good story, but it was really just "I sent an email to the IANA guy asking if I could get port 22 and he said yes."
