@hobbsc @blp @bob @ekaitzzarraga @benediktg , one thing I saw for I2P for android was a free edition, and a 'donate' edition. That made me buy it because I knew I would support them. If they just had a 'donate' button I would probably not donate. So I feel maybe they are on to something.
Also - many other 3d software related software have a 'learning' edition (free for non commercial use), and then the full 'regular' package. that might also be a option. The learning\free edition can then have some limitation to it (typically render output size etc).
http://sidefx.com did this with their advanced 3D software, and people love it.
Those who want to play around with it and learn can do that, and once they get serious about it they shell out the cash to get the full package.
Other render software for 3d has mostly a subscription plan, I'm not sure if I'll go that route, but I'm open for it, as well as letting them buy it for a one time fee,

@ekaitzzarraga First - Blender is the best open source 3d application - https://www.blender.org/
Houdini has a free learning version:
(not open source):
https://www.sidefx.com/
As for game engines you have open source:
https://www.unrealengine.com/what-is-unreal-engine-4
https://godotengine.org/
and closed source:
https://unity3d.com/
Unity and unreal is the most used ones, but personally I love working with Godot since its fully open source, no royalties etc. Unreal has royalties but its open source.
Look around at those first, read a bit about them, then get a feel for what you need\want.
Also keep in mind godot has a script language and visual scripting, unity is c#\java, unreal is c++ and visual coding though 'blueprints'.
Look at them, download, open samples get a feel for them.
I'll be back in a bit, have to get my kids out for some fresh air.

@veganique yup it does :) after 3dsmax implementation I want to work on a houdini plugin ( http://sidefx.com ) , also thought about Maya, ill look at that before Houdini because I think the api might be closer to 3dsmax's api.

@boris For this one I did not use Blender, I'm using Houdini ( http://sidefx.com ) for this.
I have to admit that I'm spending time learning Houdini, there is no other application that comes close to what houdini does (workflow and such), and after using 3dsmax every day for 16 years it feels fantastic to get the workflow that houdini has, so much to learn, feels like starting all over again. I still use blender for things, but my main focus is now on Houdini
