They’re not intended to kill the insect, just discourage them.

Nothing ‘just happens’, it’ all driven by evolutionary selection.

psilocybin and ergotamine are not antifungals, they are the products of fungi. I think they discourage predators in general, particularly mammals.

RPN, when I 'discovered' it in 1978 or so, was in the erstwhile personnage of a certain HP calculator who's model no. escaped me long ago.

I've always thought 'reverse polish notation' a bit derogatory, and like most such terms, makes a faithless jest that obscures the real value of the thing.

I tend to think of classical expressions of terms to be arranged for logical or categorical consumption; where RPN is arranged mechanically, arithmetically 'Good to Go', as it were.

@josias It’s almost certainly not something that’s going to produce in someone a ‘certifiable skill’, like say, learning C# with Visual Studio.

You couldn’t do better though if you wanted to teach pure comp sci and impart that sort of thinking to your students that promotes the design and production of useful and efficient algorythms expressed directly as code.

I guess comp sci is what you make it. Good luck with your class 🤓
