@eris @inscript i think about computing being interesting more or less solely in its capacity to exteriorize like, analogical processes of thought. a library of abstract combinators over semantics embedded in silico, & can use those in same way as cognitive patternicity to explore novelty & implication. i suppose this is what Kay talk(ed/s) about... society w/ aid of computation, as mediated by computation is more variant than society mediated by language, & equally unimaginable from without

@eris @inscript i more or less only care about the class of systems that i'm currently unable to contentfully reason about. there are "practical" problems to solve in computing, but only as given by an ontology that assumes the necessity of the domains in which those problems exist. & escaping sufficiently from technoprogressivism makes it readily apparent that those needs aren't so self-evident, to put it mildly

@eris @inscript but yes kiosks for analogies are incredibly boring and in many cases worse than their concrete parallels, because an information society is a toxic & convergence-producing thing
