Those protocols are decades old, probably all the debates raged before our time on the internet. :P
Also see how many RFCs and XEPs exist about XMPP to realize just how many different opinions there are about it. :D

@feditips if people gather around such a project I can lend a hand in consulting about conformance to the ActivityPub spec, or technical support if Golang is chosen as a development language.

@pea @cwebber I have implemented a filtering method on top of a C2S API endpoint without any issues. It doesn't doo full-text searches, but filters just fine by type, replyTo, context, replyTo depth, etc...
