in other news, I've learnt that I was using solder wick wrong for the whole of my life: you're supposed to cut a bit off before you use it so that it actually heats up and doesn't just conduct the heat along itself

Being good at sysadmin makes you way better at development! Learning sysadmin teaches you all the tools that are already at hand and lessens reinventing the wheel. It also helps you create applications which are truly easy to deploy. It's a shame how often these two professions are separated. -
