!fediverse I take for granted most people on here are programmers ... if not how come you got interested in gnusocial? How did you learn about free software? #gnu #fs #ilovefs
@purplehippo In this case it's the services. TW, NYT, Twitter, facebook, etc, all using the same single DNS provider, so one if just one of them gets hit with a big enough DNS they all do. Probably something done out of Silicon Valley chummy deals more than anything that they're all using the same company.
DNS is *meant* to be distributed to be able to absorb exactly this kind of thing, but big businesses like their centralized silos.
@maiyannah @purplehippo I thought DNS had the concept of secondary DNS servers. Wonder if it's possible to have multiple DNS servers at different orgs to limit the impact of something like this.
@clacke @nerthos It's become trendy in academic circles in particular to actively reject skepticism. I regard this as related to the establishment as it were trying to reassert itself. An educated populace is not an easy one to control with propoganda, so they want an uneducated one.
@jankusanagi@identi.ca I just implemented in AndStatus HTMLifying of a content, sent to Pump.io, as as per your request https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/375 Now testing it... Actual transformation was done in literary 3 lines of code using Android system libraries. This gives an advantage of using better algorithm at each subsequent version of Android libraries. -- andstatus@identi.ca URL: https://identi.ca/andstatus/comment/hrTT3Mt4TT-y_7Rs_WwMDw
