@hosh all seem to be converging but GS started out life as a microblog (twitter) like format. Diaspora as a social network (FB). Xmpp started as instant messaging, although it can certainly deliver to a larger chain of recipients and perform the mblog/social network function. Sadly, both FB & Google have restricted the access of outside XMPP accts recently.

@vanden PG is my first stop, but I find that Adelaide University has some that PG doesn’t, and that Feedbooks tend to have nicer formatting and sometimes images when PG doesn’t.

@tobias wrote a plugin for Friendica that brought in the rest of a conversation from SN so it was the full thread. I wonder if it could be adapted for here?
